Reviews
I've been taking my horse to her for years, and I can honestly say that this woman is absolutely passionate about her work. She's always 100% committed to the animals and doesn't sugarcoat things (if necessary). For routine appointments, I sometimes wait up to an hour because she always prioritizes emergencies. Once I knew this, I started planning ahead and am incredibly grateful that she was always there immediately for our three emergencies. No matter the day of the week, day or night – I can always rely on her! The invoices do indeed arrive every year just before Christmas, and sometimes even two or three years later. Since this is a regular occurrence, it's something you can plan for. Andrea Holst is on call for the animals almost 24/7. As I said, emergencies don't adhere to office hours. Because she's not part of a group practice but runs it all on her own (with her wonderful dog), she often doesn't have time for bookkeeping. She's 100% dedicated to animals, and for her, an emergency is always more important than the (regularly planned) accounting. I don't know anyone who has devoted their entire life to the love of animals like Andrea Holst. Thank you for everything!
Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with my experience with this veterinarian. After three years (!), I was unexpectedly sent a bill – and just before Christmas, at a time when most people already have enough stress and financial burdens. Without giving me a reasonable time to clarify the matter or even the opportunity to discuss it, legal debt collection proceedings were initiated immediately. This made it virtually impossible to review the bill in detail or resolve any ambiguities. I find this approach extremely unprofessional and customer-unfriendly. After such a long period of complete communication, I would have at least expected to be contacted before taking such drastic measures. Due to this lack of transparency and lack of empathy towards clients, I cannot recommend this veterinarian. Anyone expecting trustworthy and respectful service here may be disappointed.
The veterinary care provided by Ms. Holst is absolutely professional. She takes plenty of time for the animals and always acts in their best interests – there's nothing to criticize there. Unfortunately, this positive impression is marred by serious problems with her billing. Invoices are sent years after treatment, sometimes combined with a payment reminder in the same envelope. This is not only confusing but also makes it difficult to track the costs after such a long time. Particularly frustrating: Just before Christmas, you're pressured with a 14-day payment deadline, and then at the beginning of the new year, a formal demand for payment arrives. This approach is extremely unprofessional and causes unnecessary stress. I hope that Ms. Holst reconsiders her billing procedures, as her expertise and love for animals truly deserve a better rating.
I was referred to Dr. Holst by the official Schleswig-Holstein veterinary emergency service and brought my senior dog (15 years old) to her. She examined him very gently and thoroughly. I had feared the worst, but it was "only" an infection. I can highly recommend Dr. Holst!
I'm not impressed with Dr. Holst. She often arrives way too late without giving notice. Emergencies can always arise, but then you can let her know. She sends out invoices three years after treatment. If you question the invoice, she becomes, let's just say, very rude.
