Dr. Hofmann may be a good veterinarian in general, but in our experience, unfortunately, she is not a suitable veterinarian for cats. In our opinion, she failed in the diagnosis and treatment of our 12-year-old cat. In December 2023, he lost a significant amount of weight within just a few days, became dehydrated, and eventually completely lethargic. He vomited frequently and was clearly unwell. We initially suspected a severe stomach upset, as he had always been fit and healthy his entire life. We were given an urgent appointment with Dr. Hofmann, which included a routine check-up (which, in our view, was inadequate) and two electrolyte/vitamin infusions a few days apart. She performed a blood test and a stool sample analysis for parasites. After three days, we called her with the results (she didn't call despite our prior arrangements). She gave us the all-clear. The blood work was fine, there were no parasites, and no further action was required. Dr. Hofmann A diagnosis with fatal consequences: Because our cat's condition continued to deteriorate, we consulted another veterinarian, this one specializing exclusively in cats. After a thorough examination, she diagnosed: Inflammation of the pancreas, enlarged thyroid gland on the right, significantly thickened intestinal loops, enlarged lymph nodes, tumorous tissue in the colon and kidneys, metastasizing to the regional lymph nodes – in other words, cancer! In addition, blood pressure was measured, and a detailed blood test was performed. This showed several abnormal values. Incidentally, these were exactly the same as those from Dr. Hoffmann, which she only sent to us and the new veterinarian after we requested them. It is therefore incomprehensible to us that Dr. Hoffmann did not take any further action despite the abnormal values. Not to mention an ultrasound examination. Our cat could only receive palliative care. On January 29, 2024, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have him euthanized. What leaves us so stunned is that Dr. Hofmann wasn't alarmed in the slightest and made no attempt to investigate the cause of his drastic weight loss and persistent nausea, nor to conduct any further examinations. She couldn't have cured the cancer, but in our opinion, she should have taken action nonetheless. In conclusion: Dr. Hofmann is very kind and helpful, but in our view, she is clearly not up-to-date in the field of feline medicine. As we now know, cats, due to their physical characteristics, require specialized veterinary training and completely different treatment approaches than, for example, dogs.
I changed vets after many years and am absolutely thrilled with this wonderful vet! Dr. Hofmann calmly put our older dog down at home, and my other four-legged friends aren't stressed either, as they are treated so calmly and gently. What I would also like to emphasize is that she prescribes what's necessary, and doesn't rip you off!
For personal reasons, I recently changed my long-time veterinarian. Since my four Vienna Woods dogs don't adhere to appointment times, I ended up with Dr. Hoffmann. Well, where do I begin? My 14-year-old black rescue dog received excellent care during her difficult time with bone cancer. When she had to be put down, Dr. Hoffmann came to our home so Fahra could pass away peacefully surrounded by family. Then our Chichi became ill. Not only did Dr. Hoffmann do everything imaginable for him, but Mr. Bernhard Hoffmann also provided invaluable support and advice. I can only express my gratitude for being in such good hands at the practice. We are so happy that we always find a sympathetic ear for all our problems, big and small. Thank you, Andrea Heinz.
I can only say – truly disappointing! My friends' dog was under the care of Dr. Hofmann and was euthanized there. I was very disappointed and saddened by what I was told about the procedure during this already sad process. There was no time to say goodbye. The children spoke comforting words to the dog, but the vet responded with very cold words. In total, everything was over in 5 minutes. When you've spent 11 years with your loyal companion, I think you should be given more time and understanding to say goodbye. There's no excuse for this!
It's unbelievable how people can treat animals. Heartless, unempathetic, unscrupulous, and beneath all dignity for both humans and animals.
