We have been under Dr. Gottwald's care for our two dogs for five years. He takes a lot of time with each animal, explains treatment steps in detail, and explains why he does what he does. Each case is considered individually. If there are any uncertainties, he performs targeted follow-up tests. A positive aspect is that he keeps an eye on the overall situation but doesn't recommend unnecessary or risky interventions. He asks many specific questions, considers the answers, and listens attentively. Anyone who goes to him should bring some time, be prepared to answer questions about the animal, and also accept constructive criticism. Example: Our two unneutered male dogs had purulent drops on their penises and problems defecating. At first, we only reported the stool problems. Dr. Gottwald palpated the dogs, checked their prostates and anal glands, and observed their posture. This is when he noticed the second problem. His direct question: "Do you feed your dogs dry food?" After we confirmed this, he set aside the medication for enteritis that had already been provided. Instead, he explained to us the importance of proper feeding. After switching to wet food, all problems disappeared. The vaccination records and dog passport were also checked. What we particularly like: No unnecessary antibiotics No pointless X-rays No duplicate examinations or excessive fees No pressure to sell expensive follow-up treatments After just under two hours (including waiting time), we were finished and only paid for the services actually provided. The costs were always communicated transparently, for example, with an increased fee for emergencies on weekends or outside of business hours. Conclusion: A competent, conscientious veterinarian who acts calmly and with expertise. We are very satisfied.

A top-notch veterinarian. Very kind, empathetic, conscientious, and competent with incredible expertise and years of experience. Very easy to deal with. Swiss veterinarians could learn a thing or two from Mr. Gottwald. Amazing vet. Thank you, and hopefully see you again – in Germany or Switzerland!!!

I've been taking my two females, Zoe and Happy, to Dr. Gottwald for about three years now, and I'm absolutely delighted. It's a shame I didn't go to him sooner. He's incredibly competent and has years of experience that I trust completely. He explains things clearly, takes his time, makes copies and notes for home so you don't forget anything. Dr. Gottwald lives for animals and his profession. He's always there when you need him. A huge thank you for that! 💖 My females and I are thrilled and highly recommend him. And when he has the time, he's happy to chat. That's what you call being human, and it's all part of the job. Thank you, Dr. Gottwald! You're an angel to us! 😇

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, I called the emergency veterinary service around 9:30 a.m. because my dog had torn off his dewclaw, was bleeding heavily, and was in pain. I was given an appointment for 10:45 a.m. Around 10:13 a.m., I was informed that she was having problems with her own animal. She said she would contact me to reschedule. At 11:30 a.m., I called again, asking her to give me a new appointment time. She said she couldn't, but would get back to me. I then canceled and went to an animal hospital where my dog received immediate treatment. An emergency veterinary service should provide immediate assistance when an animal is bleeding and in pain, and not put the owner off indefinitely.
