Reviews
According to the practice staff, this is a large animal practice. Please note: a woman with a dog was standing next to me. A second woman followed with a dog. It states everywhere that small animals are treated. It's unfortunate that there isn't honest communication and that animals aren't helped. Unfortunately, I have to give it one star to be able to write a review. In fact, we wouldn't bring our animals here, even in an emergency. I've been lied to once now, and that alone is unacceptable. I can't judge whether the practicing doctor is competent or not. I haven't had any experience with that. However, the staff is more than questionable.
I've been taking my Maine Coon cats to Dr. Erdweg for some time now and I'm absolutely thrilled. Whether it's for vaccinations or anything else that comes up, she always takes her time, is readily available, and treats my cats with an incredibly loving and calm manner. You can tell how important the animals' well-being is to her and that she always gives her best. I feel my furry friends are in excellent hands there and can wholeheartedly recommend the practice! She's also always happy to help with any questions I have about my horses. 🐴 🐾💙
Extremely unfriendly "lady" on the phone. I bought a Maine Coon cat 4 months ago, and its breeder works with Dr. Erdweg along with her cats and kittens. The unfriendliest employee of all told me on the phone that they weren't accepting new patients. I told the "lady" that my cat IS a patient of Dr. Erdweg's and that he had been there as a kitten for vaccinations and microchipping.... The "lady" said that I'm not a patient there...??? No, I'M NOT AN ANIMAL EITHER and of course I'm a patient of a human doctor!!! Other practices want to make money, and now we go to another vet for neutering. I can't judge whether Dr. Erdweg is a good doctor, of course, but her employee is incredibly unfriendly on the phone!!! Absolutely not!
I would not recommend this practice to any animal lover. Last week, we spontaneously attended one of the practice's open hours with our dog. He had stopped eating and drinking and was clearly in severe pain (it was the nearest practice and the only one open at the time). Upon arrival, the veterinary assistant asked us if we were already a patient, which we denied. However, we explicitly stated that we only needed immediate medical attention due to urgency, as our dog had deteriorated significantly overnight, vomited several times, and cried out in pain. The veterinary assistant told us that she would briefly speak with the locum vet, as Dr. Erdweg herself was not available. After a very short time (without the vet even having looked at our dog), we were sent home because they do not accept any new patients—emergencies are included and are not treated. This was Dr. Erdweg's express instruction. The practice did not provide us with any alternative practice. After we visited a practice an hour away, our dog was immediately examined by the vet, who diagnosed acute pancreatitis. This required immediate medical attention. I can only indirectly evaluate the veterinarian, Dr. Erdweg, at this point, but since this was her statement according to the practice team/representative, I find the decisions/instructions of this doctor/practice completely inappropriate for the profession.
A top-notch veterinarian and incredibly friendly assistants. We take our dog there and they've always been very helpful and took plenty of time with us. She focuses not only on the animals but also on the people. A truly wonderful practice.
