Reviews
Yesterday, Christmas Day, we unfortunately had to use this emergency veterinary service due to an acute, life-threatening situation involving my mother's dog. During a walk, he suddenly collapsed, lay motionless on his side, and showed signs of a medical emergency. I immediately contacted the veterinarian by phone, where I was harshly informed that they wouldn't be available for "2.5 hours." Only after repeated, insistent inquiries as to whether this was an emergency clinic or not, and that our dog was clearly fighting for his life right then and there, were we reluctantly allowed to even be seen. No suggestion was made over the phone to go directly to an animal hospital—in hindsight, that would have saved valuable time. At the veterinarian's office, my distraught mother and dog were not given immediate medical assistance, but instead repeatedly confronted with the accusation that I (the daughter) had insulted the veterinarian on the phone beforehand. This in no way reflects the actual course of the conversation and, given the emergency situation, was completely inappropriate to be discussed there! The dog was in critical condition in the trunk of the car at the time. Only after my mother desperately pleaded for help was the dog briefly and unempathetically examined (edit: after my mother was told that the dog, in its condition, had to drag itself INTO the doctor's office. According to the vet, it was impossible to examine the dog in the car where it was lying)! Only then were we informed that treatment was not possible and that we should go to the Recklinghausen Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, the dog died there. This review reflects solely our personal experience. We are aware that criticism can be emotional, especially in exceptional circumstances. All the more reason why we would have appreciated calm, professional, and solution-oriented communication in an emergency situation. Edit: My mother was told that treatment was not possible and that we should go to the Recklinghausen Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, the dog died there. This review reflects our personal experience only. We understand that criticism can be emotional, especially in exceptional circumstances. Therefore, we would have much preferred calm, professional, and solution-oriented communication in an emergency situation. ... We hope for all those affected that future emergencies will be handled more clearly, empathetically, and, above all, more quickly! EDIT, addition following the owner's response: The account of the phone call presented in the response does not correspond to our recollection and perception of the conversation! In particular, to our knowledge, at NO point during the phone call was it explicitly advised to go directly to an animal hospital. Our review remains an objective description of our personal experience on that day and is intended to be transparent for other pet owners and those affected. We will refrain from further public discussion at this time.
I'm looking for a veterinarian nearby and have read the relevant reviews. I'm appalled by the rude tone of Ms. Brinkkötter's response to a negative review. I would expect that kind of language from a construction worker, certainly not from a qualified veterinarian. I definitely wouldn't want to take my dog there. I hope the practice attracts a steady stream of patients who can tolerate such language.
They make a lot of money here with little work and commitment. They charge exorbitant fees for a three-minute conversation, even though you might potentially return. Simple questions were met with eye-rolling.
I had my dog's teeth done; six had to be extracted, and since then he's simply back to his old self. He's running around again, eating again, and the professional, helpful, and super-quick appointment scheduling with Ms. Brinkötter was a dream come true. It was already the second time she's made my little guy's life easier again! She instilled so much trust in us, and the time she took before, during, and after the procedure was truly professional and more. We will only go to this practice from now on and are happy to travel the extra distance. Many thanks to the whole team! Lilly
I have nothing but good things to say. I was there with my two dogs; one of them needed surgery for a wound healing problem following a major operation on the mainland. Ms. Brinkötter knows exactly what she's doing. Her colleague, Ms. Jäger, is also fantastic; she keeps a close eye on everything. You can tell how well the two of them work together. The wound healing problem is now a thing of the past, the result is amazing, and once again, a huge thank you to the team! It's wonderful that this is possible on the island; it's an immense relief! Keep up the good work! 👍
