Does my pet need a referral from our regular vet, or can I bring my pet in without one?

Your regular veterinarian can refer you to us, but you are also welcome to schedule an appointment with us at any time without a referral. While in the case of a referral we automatically send a diagnostic report to your referring practice, we kindly ask you to let us know whether or not you would like a report sent to your regular veterinarian.

What happens during an eye examination? Is it painful?

Fortunately, the eye examination itself is not painful. We begin by discussing your pet's medical history. Depending on what is needed, this is followed by tests such as tear production measurement, pupillary reflex testing, corneal surface evaluation, and intraocular pressure measurement. Our team always approaches things with great sensitivity to make the experience as stress-free as possible for your beloved pet.

Are eye conditions painful for animals?

Accepted Answer

While there are some painless eye conditions that can lead to blindness, eye disorders are frequently painful for your animal, and often extremely so. Sudden squinting, excessive blinking, or rubbing are clear warning signs that mean you should act quickly.
