We love our vet. She's great with both our dog, a 4 month old Dutch Shepherd, and with us. The other day we had an emergency. My wife took our puppy for a walk and Tuffy came home fussing and biting her paws. Dr. Schenck got us right in to see her. Tuff had gotten into some kind of stinging plant. A shot of cortisone and she was better in no time. In our case, and maybe yours, our pets are four legged family members. We want them to have a vet we can trust and rely on. For us, that's Dr Schenck. We have confidence in her and her staff, and wouldn't go anywhere else. How do you put a price on trust and peace of mind? Now for some practical stuff. Parking is somewhat limited. Persons in a wheelchair might have some difficulty, so plan for that. There is plenty of seating in the waiting room, and there is a bathroom available.

If I could, I would give this veterinarian minus five stars. I brought my cat (with a known history of heart problems) to the practice because her condition had worsened over the past week. Blood was drawn. According to the practice, the results showed very poor cardiac parameters. In my opinion, immediate emergency medical intervention (blood pressure medication/blood thinners) was not initiated; instead, antibiotic treatment was started, and the echocardiogram was postponed for a week. When I asked if waiting was safe given the cat's condition and the poor results, I was assured to wait for the ultrasound. The ultrasound was performed a week later (by a cardiologist at the practice). Afterward, I was told that the heart was fine and that a follow-up examination wasn't necessary for another year. Sadly, just a few hours after the ultrasound, my cat died a painful death with symptoms of an aortic thromboembolism (shortness of breath, hind leg paralysis). I found the way the vet handled the known cardiac parameters during this critical week incomprehensible. Based on my bad experience, everyone can now decide for themselves whether to have their animal treated for potential heart problems by this veterinarian or to immediately seek treatment at a specialized veterinary clinic.

This was my first time here, due to my veterinarian's maternity leave and a personal recommendation from another dog owner. While the veterinary practice isn't very large, the veterinary assistants, as well as Dr. Schenk herself, were very gentle with my Habapoo. I received a particularly calm and thorough consultation, answering all my questions without feeling rushed or stressed. The practice is very clean. There's a restroom and a water dispenser for owners. They even offered my dog a healthy treat after the examination. I highly recommend this practice.

In my opinion, Ms. Schenk is the best veterinarian in the area. We have several rescue animals, so we've been to all sorts of vets, including emergency services. But Ms. Schenk was by far the best, and we switched to her as our regular vet years ago. We've taken dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, and hedgehogs to her. Whether it's vaccinations, checkups, heart conditions, strokes, fluid retention, emergencies, amputations, dental work or extractions, neutering/spaying, etc., she has always been very caring and competent. She explains everything very clearly and takes plenty of time. Sometimes the waiting times are a bit longer, but emergencies always take priority, and I would be happy to be seen in between for an acute emergency. Her prices are based on the official veterinary fee schedule. She can't get around that, but she doesn't add anything extra that isn't necessary. Other vets in the area also do this kind of thing... which is why I think the prices are very reasonable. We're so glad we have her, and our animals love her. They often purr so loudly that it's almost impossible to listen to their chest. That speaks volumes! Thank you for being there, Dr. Schenk!
