Reviews
We just had a wonderful experience with the emergency veterinary service on Easter Monday. Our Maltese was bitten on the head, and after a quick phone call, we were able to drive to Dr. Virchow's office. She was very professional, and we immediately felt we were in good hands. The wound was stitched up, and antibiotics were started. A very kind and extremely competent vet, in my opinion.
Just before closing time on Friday evening, we received spontaneous treatment for diarrhea and vomiting, saving our weekend and sparing us an expensive emergency room visit. And this was despite the fact that we weren't patients before; it was our first time there. The dog treated was a male Labrador.
A highly dedicated and competent veterinarian in a small practice. Animal welfare is always the top priority.
Since all veterinarians were closed between the holidays and even the emergency veterinary service was unavailable, we called Dr. Virchow's practice, as it seemed to be the only one open. The reason for our call was our dog, who had eaten something unknown from the street and was vomiting repeatedly, with suspected poisoning. On the phone, we were brushed off and shown no interest in our situation. We were simply referred to the emergency veterinary service, even though it was unavailable. It seemed as if they didn't want to spoil their holiday mood. I wish this practice all the worst.
I recently took my one-year-old Maine Coon cat to this vet because he has an inverted eyelid. After a brief examination, the vet was certain that his right eye would have to be removed, claiming there was extensive necrosis and that surgery would be extremely expensive, costing several thousand euros. Since I couldn't quite understand what the vet was trying to tell me, I sought a second opinion from a specialist at an animal hospital. I've worked as a caregiver for many years and have often dealt with necrosis in humans. When she tried to show me the supposed necrosis, I couldn't see any at all, which made me suspicious. At the animal hospital, I was then unsurprisingly told that both eyes were healthy and that only the eyelids needed correction. If I had trusted this, I would have been scheduled for surgery and the eye would have been removed without any medical justification. Conclusion: Absolutely not recommended. It's sad that such diagnoses are made so carelessly. ABSOLUTELY NEGLIGENT. If you love your animals, you'd better find a competent veterinarian. Thanks for nothing!
