A very competent and empathetic veterinarian. He takes concerns seriously and is honest when it comes to treatment options. A person who cares about the animals and also sensibly explains that while some treatments are possible, they would only benefit his wallet. I find that very sympathetic, in a time when others are trying to make money from everything. Motte has been in good hands there for many years.
Very kind doctor and explain everything ok
My cat had been acting very strangely for a few days, so I went to Dr. Kohtes. I told him about all the symptoms, and he did what he thought was all the possible tests, including a blood test. I was supposed to call at 5 p.m. to ask for the results. I tried calling several times, but no one answered. After 20 minutes, he called me back, only to tell me that all the blood work was fine and that I should weigh her every day to detect any significant weight loss early. I asked him a few other questions because he couldn't tell me what was wrong with my cat, and he reacted very irritably to every question. When I realized he had absolutely no interest in finding out why my cat wasn't feeling well (I was getting annoyed myself), I thanked him and wished him a good evening. He simply hung up without saying anything. From that moment on, I knew I had to seek help elsewhere. My cat is now doing better and is making a full recovery. It turned out that this doctor is either extremely incompetent or deliberately does this out of financial desperation. I paid at least €120 too much for absolutely nothing. No medication, no diagnosis.
We've been taking our pets to Dr. Kothes' practice for several years now and are extremely satisfied. At the beginning of this year, our 11-year-old cat Mischa ❤️, who gave us almost 12 wonderful and unforgettable years, was sadly diagnosed with cancer 🥺. Dr. Kothes and Dr. Schmidt did their best, providing us with excellent advice and information. They were also very responsive to our wishes and supportive 🫂🤝. We didn't want to give up so easily. But after about three weeks, we felt so sorry for Mischa because he was suffering so much 🥺, and with heavy hearts, we had to make the decision to have him euthanized 🥺. Even in this incredibly difficult moment for us and our children, Dr. Kothes, Dr. Schmidt, and the staff were so kind and supportive, helping us to accompany Mischa on his final journey. Mischa❤️ passed away on February 4, 2026 🕯⚰️. It's truly incredibly difficult to say goodbye to a pet after almost 12 years, but Dr. Kohtes and Dr. Schmidt did such a wonderful and heartfelt job and supported us through it all. We were even allowed to grieve for a while in the examination room before taking Mischa home for burial. Our favorite moment was when the nurse brought us a small glass jar with a black ribbon and, with our permission, shaved a little of Mischa's fur and put it in the jar as a keepsake. Rest in peace 🕯🐈⬛🙏 Mischa. We thank Dr. Kohtes, Dr. Schmidt, and all the staff from the bottom of our hearts ❤️🫂🤝. You are simply wonderful people ❤️. We also have pets, and whenever we need veterinary care, we come to you, you lovely people 🤝👍🍀. Best regards, The Milberger Family
