We contacted Erste Katzenambulanz to get some advices on adopting a cat. The vet was very helpful and assisted us in the phone with kindness 🐈
7 years ago: Wonderful personnel! Ingrid speaks very good English. She is very kind to cats and takes her time for a thorough check up. Even my cat likes her! 2021: My dear cat has died, age 14. He had chronic kidney disease and a few other issues old cats tend to get. No matter where we moved in Vienna we always came back to Ingrid. She is a great vet and a wonderful and polite person that was there until the very last moment, not only for my cat, but even for me, in helping me cope with the situation. A medical scientist myself, I always checked the latest literature on my cat's condition out of curiosity and I can only confirm that Ingrid was always up to date with every decision she made for my cat's health. I am 100% confident that she made all the best decisions one can take in this kind of difficult situation. Thanks to her, my cat and I had one more beautiful year together, despite his condition. When I decide to take in a new cat, we will for sure come back to Ingrid and her lovely assistants. I am very grateful to all of them for treating my cat with so much love and care.
Unfortunately we did not have the same positive experience with Dr Ingrid. Having moved recently to Vienna, we brought our cat to her for a check-up and to have him registered on the national database. We chose her based on the positive feedback found online. Our cat had been recently visited in Italy before moving to have his passport ready and our Italian vet said he was in perfect conditions (I have the certificate) so I was quite surprised when Dr. Ingrid said he had a teeth problem and needed urgent surgery. Nevertheless we took her advice seriously and had him undergo surgery for tooth extraction. In the past the vet in Italy had already performed an identical surgery on him so I had a precise idea of what was the process. Not only the anesthesia used was far heavier than the one performed in Italy which left him in a comatose status for several days, but she also charged us an incredible amount of money (more than EUR 500 total) for the procedure and medication. In front of our request for clarification she used a sarcastic and patronizing tone saying "we wanted to be doctors in her place" and that we were not taking care appropriately of our cat. I am therefore quite upset with Dr. Ingrid and would not recommend her. To me, she seems more in love with her bank account than with the cats she treats. I will not go back to her and am looking for a new vet in Vienna.
I do not recommend this vet, my experience was more like a fraud! 300 euros for a normal check-up! the doctor was not experienced enough to handle a stressed cat. The reception was not polite and the doctor did not seem like a professional, she used a very strong sedation on my poor cat just for a check-up! I have not had this unpleasent experience anywhere before. If you love your cat, avoid this place!
A very good vet, I have a cat and live nearby. I will now go there for regular checks and all of my issues. I brought a 6 month old cat to castrate him. Surgery took less than 2 hours, and my cat did seem stressed or overly sedated at all. Staff clearly knows way around cats, the way they handled mine was very impressive doing all checks easily and quick but without stressing him. Also give me some explanations and very good suggestions as he was a street cat and needed some test to confirm he is healthy and safe for us. All of that with a very good English! I would definitely recommend the place.
