We were there for a CT scan (due to a suspicion that had previously appeared in an X-ray). We received a very warm welcome, and Dr. Schwandt lovingly cared for our Fibi. After the CT scan came the shock. Our Fibi (an 11-year-old Maine Coon) had a 17cm tumor in her lung and consequently very little lung capacity, which made breathing extremely difficult for her. Dr. Schwandt then told us this very carefully, but at our request, without sugarcoating it. With heavy hearts, we had to decide on euthanasia for our Fibi—to prevent something worse from happening. However, we were given plenty of time to make a decision—no one stressed us out or made us feel bad. Shortly before, we were allowed to be with her again in the CT recovery room. Then everything happened very quickly—we cuddled her tightly one last time, and then Dr. Schwandt... Schwandt asked again when he could administer the injection and if we were sure. When our Fibi embarked on her journey, we were allowed to stay with her as long as we wanted. We felt very well cared for and understood. Being offered peace and understanding in such a moment was the best thing that could have happened to us. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire team for making this difficult step as comfortable as possible for us. Today we received a nose and paw print and a card signed by all the staff. This brought tears to both our eyes. Thank you so much for your honest and heartfelt advice.
