I can't praise this clinic enough. My pony has been there so many times with various colic cases, and they've even performed two surgeries. I'm a nurse by profession, and I can honestly say that owners of sick animals receive better care than patients in human medicine. You get a call every day to check on your pet. You feel welcome, understood, and well looked after. Yes, it's expensive, but I'm so grateful we have this university hospital nearby! A vet visit at home is also incredibly expensive, but you want to get the help you need, sometimes at any cost! A very special thank you goes to Samira Klinkel and her team in the internal medicine department. Without you, my pony wouldn't be here anymore.

My horse was euthanized at the clinic three years ago. We brought him in with unclear colic symptoms, and it turned out to be internal bleeding due to a tumor. It was a Sunday afternoon, and I was completely distraught, but the clinic staff were very kind and compassionate. They even collected apples for Balu, even though they must have known perfectly well that he didn't need them anymore. But their compassion helped me a lot. Even though it was one of the worst days of my life, I would recommend taking your horse to Giessen.

My horse needed emergency surgery and stayed in Giessen for 18 days. I never worried about my horse for a single day. Dr. Bartmann and his team were always helpful, empathetic, and friendly. The stall was always clean, and the hay looked good. All my questions were answered patiently, and everything was explained without using overly technical jargon (meaning I could always understand everything). My horse never seemed unwell, and I felt that her anxieties were very well addressed. I was there for several hours almost every day and always left with peace of mind. Thank you so much for everything!

I brought my horse to Giessen because my vet hadn't given me a clear diagnosis. They kept me informed about every step and guided me through the entire process.
