I'm often asked if I can recommend a good veterinarian. After almost 30 years in active animal welfare, and also because of my own animals, I actually know quite a few veterinarians, including some I can truly recommend with a clear conscience. But what exactly does "good veterinarian" mean? For some, competence is the only thing that matters, for others perhaps it's more about distance, and for many, unfortunately, now it's about costs. And it gets particularly difficult when it comes to money, because competent and optimal treatment of an animal always entails some expense. A few weeks ago, an elderly lady was sitting next to me in the waiting room crying. We started talking, and she told me how she was blaming herself. Her dog was currently under anesthesia for the third time in six months. It started with a simple but urgently needed dental cleaning for her elderly dog. Because of the significantly lower price, she had this treatment done at another practice. Afterward, her teeth were dazzlingly white, but the dog was still eating less and seemed to be in pain. The dental x-ray at the Kumpf practice then revealed the cause...several severely inflamed tooth roots. The saying "buy cheap, buy twice" is true, but the money is one thing, the additional stress and the risk of anesthesia are another. Sure, many people would do anything for their pet, but simply have a low income. But that's nothing to be ashamed of; on the contrary, an empathetic veterinarian understands this, and almost always, a solution in the best interests of the animal can be found together. Understanding and empathy are just as important to me, at least, as quality and competence. Especially in difficult times and especially at the end of a journey together, it's so important to have a practice team at your side that sees you not just as a customer, but also as a person with your beloved pet. That's exactly the case with Ms. Kumpf and her team; everyone truly does their job with passion, often working well beyond their usual working hours. One can only say THANK YOU, because such a motivated team is no longer a given these days!
A truly wonderful and friendly team who treat the animals with great care. Our two female cats were spayed/neutered there and received very professional treatment and care. Our questions were answered very kindly. We feel very well cared for there.
I am completely satisfied with this practice. The entire team is highly competent, friendly, and, above all, always focused on finding the best solution for the animal, not just the easiest one. Even in difficult situations, I was taken seriously and supported. When I made the heartbreaking decision to let my loyal companion go, it was handled with incredible dignity, calm, and love for the animal, and with great understanding for me as a person. Medically, I can wholeheartedly recommend this practice: appointments were always reliable, the organization is excellent, and surgeries were performed at the highest professional level. My dog had surgery here, including on his spleen, and had absolutely no complications; you can tell they have a high level of expertise and experience. The strong network of colleagues, where the animal's well-being is always the top priority, is also particularly noteworthy. Driving about 40 minutes from Speyer each time was perfectly acceptable to me. I would bring any animal back here anytime. Many thanks to the entire team! 🙏🏼
We had our dog Timber operated on here in the fall and were 100% satisfied with everything – from the consultation to the surgery and aftercare. The entire team is empathetic, competent, and very thorough. In addition, their consistently warm and friendly manner immediately inspires trust. Timber is in the best hands here.
Fantastic veterinary practice with wonderful staff! I'd previously taken my dog to several different practices, and everywhere he and I felt quite uncomfortable over multiple appointments. He even growled at the vets because they didn't even introduce themselves but simply grabbed him from above – nothing like that happens here. During every visit, the entire team is calm, incredibly warm, and Ody and I both feel completely at ease. A huge thank you to the team for their sensitive approach!
