This review pertains exclusively to equine medicine: Dr. Pielsticker provides excellent treatment and advice in general veterinary medicine. She doesn't sugarcoat anything, and you have to be able to handle that. Sugarcoating things doesn't help either. She is very easy to reach by phone and was always punctual for appointments. If my new stable weren't so far away, I would continue to consult her as our veterinarian with complete confidence.

It was a long time ago, but I'll never forget that vet visit, which is why, after almost 13 years, I'm writing to vent my shock at that vet. Emergency Shetland pony – acute laminitis attack. The woman was unfriendly, unempathetic, and so incredibly dismissive that our pony wouldn't even leave its stall. According to the vet, the animal had to be euthanized that very day; either she would do it herself, or we should send her proof that another vet would. I was so utterly shocked and overwhelmed at the time. The pony belongs to my daughter, who was at school, my husband wasn't home, and I was alone. Thank God I listened to my gut feeling and asked the woman to give the animal some pain medication, and then I asked her to leave the premises. We took our little pony to the animal hospital, it was treated, and what can I say? Thirteen years later, it's still alive. We know there are occasional flare-ups... she receives expert care from kind people, and many have grown very fond of her. It's a shame I can't send a video showing the joy this animal has for life (despite her illness). My trauma regarding this veterinarian will remain forever. She came to us and formed an opinion without questioning anything or even remotely considering the animal or the problem. Reading the reviews, it seems she has good and bad days. It's a shame we apparently caught her on her worst day ever.

I called in the morning about an emergency, and although the vet was at home and therefore near my horse, I was told: I can't come until 5 pm... call someone else. I find that unprofessional!

Always available in case of emergency. Doesn't perform pointless tests on animals and says openly and honestly when there's nothing more she can do, or refers you to the clinic. We've been going to her for years.

My utmost respect for Dr. Pielstickers' diagnosis and treatment of my injured cat Chiara; and all this on a Sunday morning.
