Tierarztpraxis Dr. von Stumberg

This was my second visit to Dr. von Stumberg. I had been there once with my dog several years ago, but normally I have been going to the practice in Höhenhaus. Dr. von Stumberg took one look inside my dog's mouth and said he was going to need to operate immediately! He showed me why. One tooth was so loose, it was almost falling out. So Dr. Stumberg removed 16 teeth - just like that! He was highly competent, thorough, and decisive, which was what I needed. The staff there was very friendly too and they know their patients personally! Dr. von Stumberg just won a new patient in my dog. My little dog and I will be going there in future.

Really positive experience. Dr. Sturmberg is really friendly and relaxed and helped me out with a couple of terms in English that I didn't know in German. He was able to sort the cost directly with my pet health insurance so I didn't have to pay up front. I arrived Friday morning before the opening hours and I was in and out within 20 minutes: very quick, very efficient!

Called at 18:00 on 29 January to ask whether I could obtain medication for acute diarrhea for my cat. I was told that no medication could be given without seeing the animal first. I explained that my cat has a serious heart condition and seizures and that transport poses a real risk. I also mentioned that I had a same-day consultation report from Tierklinik Düsseldorf recommending this product, as well as date-stamped photos documenting his bowel movements. Despite this, I was told this was “not possible” and that “no vet would give out medication like this without seeing the animal.” I understand that practices have their own policies and may not stock every product. However, the absolute statement made to me was misleading, as I was able to obtain the same non-prescription veterinary product from another practice shortly afterward. What disappointed me most was not the refusal itself, but the tone of the conversation and the lack of empathy given the acute and high-risk medical situation. Based on this interaction, I would not choose to bring my pets in this practice.
