Never again. They used to be great 20 years ago when Dr. Jörgens was there, but not anymore. They misdiagnosed our dog four times in one month!!! and then said she had to be euthanized and there was nothing else they could do for her. That same dog is now perfectly healthy at home after we went to the clinic in Cologne. She almost died because the tumor was never discovered, despite several visits to the vet. Our cat was also euthanized there four years ago for a "really bad cold." We were told it was for the best and there was no other option. Now we're not so sure that was really the truth... The receptionists are also incredibly rude, snappy, and have zero empathy, especially for emergencies. They constantly interrupt and don't even listen properly. Never again!
Honestly, when it comes to rating this place, I don't know where to begin... even one star is too much for the amateur doctors at this practice! None of the vets here have a clue; instead, they tell pet owners they're too stupid to recognize the correct illness! Sure... as everyone knows, you go to the vet because you think you can diagnose it yourself. After further treatments, because the case was urgent and there wasn't time for a second opinion, the animal unfortunately came back sicker than when it was brought in. And again, they made excuses, claiming, despite witnesses who were present, that it was already like this before. We're talking about animals so sick or "injured" that it's irreparable! I can only advise anyone who loves their pet to stay away from this practice. It's not about the animal, it's about quantity over quality. All this without any expertise, as a second and third opinion after this horrific experience clearly and independently confirmed. Information and explanations regarding potential complications, or even changes to treatment plans, are provided without consultation, or, as in this case, not at all. After we addressed this issue upon pickup, after being given detailed information about things that hadn't been agreed upon, and after discovering the complication and damage following the surgery, we were accused of being unreachable. The women at the reception desk were incredibly rude and even threatened not to release the animal if we continued to "discuss" it after finding it in the condition described above. Bravo! You can imagine the subsequent communication after this performance. Therefore, the negative reviews after Dr. Theben left the practice should be taken to heart if you want to take your pet home healthy! The positive reviews can only be from acquaintances, friends, or purchased reviews; in our experience, there's no other explanation. STAY AWAY!!!!!
"Unfortunately, we are extremely dissatisfied with our visits. We took our dog to the practice twice for an ultrasound with the same symptoms, and both times they diagnosed a supposed bladder tumor. Luckily, we got an emergency appointment at a veterinary clinic, where it turned out there was no bladder tumor, and after reviewing the images, several veterinarians were also unable to detect one on the existing ultrasound scans."
We've felt very well cared for with our dog for years. Our 14-year-old male dog recently developed a testicular tumor and large bladder stones. The surgery went smoothly without complications, thanks to Dr. Busch. Everything was explained perfectly, and all our questions were answered. Thanks to Dr. Mense, our dog was sent to the animal center in Bergheim for a second opinion/confirmation. The opinion and diagnoses were confirmed there as well. We thought this step taken by Dr. Mense was excellent. The women on the practice team are always kind and friendly. Of course, like everywhere else, there are also not-so-good days; they're only human, after all. I also work in healthcare and can completely empathize with many of the women's situations. That said, there are clients/patients who perhaps should reflect on their own behavior. We've been to the practice before with small animals, and then with our dog, and have always received excellent treatment (from various veterinarians). We can only say THANK YOU for the commitment, friendliness, warmth and satisfactory medical treatments.
