Reviews
Very nice doctors, patient and kind with animals and owners. I definitely recommend their services.
Last year, my old cat became very ill. They did everything they could to help my senior cat, but sadly, she didn't make it. When I realized this, I called the veterinary practice to say it was probably time to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge to spare her any more suffering. They came within an hour, and I was able to be with my pet, which was very important to me. She passed away peacefully, our old lady, at 20 years old. I'm so glad I found such a wonderful practice; everyone is so kind, and they handle the animals with great sensitivity. I've been to a few vets, but none of them compare to Dr. Franz's practice. I will definitely go there again; everything is just perfect.
If I could, I would give this vet minus five stars. The vet killed my pet. I took my very sick, but still relatively stable and, in my opinion, pain-free cat to the clinic for a follow-up appointment and to have her blood work checked. I was aware that her time had already come and that she probably only had a few days or maybe a week to live. The appointment was also to discuss whether euthanasia at home would be possible when the time came. So, we didn't go to the clinic that day to have our cat euthanized. However, the vet suggested giving her three medications to "build her strength" so that she wouldn't suddenly collapse. Although my gut feeling was against it and I didn't react quickly enough, I agreed by not stopping it. About a minute after the injections, my cat suddenly collapsed: She yowled, had severe difficulty breathing, opened her mouth and eyes wide, lost consciousness, and had no muscle tone at all. About ten minutes after our appointment, we tried several times to call the veterinary clinic for help, but no one answered. We had to drive immediately to the animal hospital in Essen, where our cat was ultimately euthanized. There, I explained what had happened and mentioned the medications. Since the vets knew about my cat's condition from two days prior, they were very surprised and said that the medication might have been too strong or too high a dose. What was particularly devastating for me at the end was a sentence the vet said as we left the clinic with our almost unconscious cat: "In the end, it's you, not me." I knew my cat was sick and that her passing was imminent. But I went to the clinic with her still relatively stable, and shortly afterward, I lost her in a terrible state. I had wanted to spare her suffering and give her a peaceful farewell. Instead, she had to spend her last minutes in fear, shortness of breath, and panic. I will never forget that.
I took our cat Büchsi there to have a bite wound treated. The team seemed competent and efficient. Büchsi is doing well again, and the price was fair. All communication and scheduling went smoothly.
A highly competent veterinarian and a wonderfully pleasant team. My little Gismo received excellent treatment and is on the mend (both cruciate ligaments were torn). It's the first veterinary practice he's ever gone to willingly and without coercion. The appointment system is also a huge plus, as it eliminates waiting times and prevents his fear of the vet from building up. Five stars from me!
