We run a cattery and have our own cats, all of whom have been treated to our complete satisfaction by Dr. Stommel for many years. Normally, we aren't bothered by such reviews. However, this attempt to discredit a renowned veterinarian with such malice, simply because she refused to euthanize an animal prematurely, is so infuriating that we feel compelled to intervene. Toni was surrendered to us in 2017 by an animal welfare organization with a diaphragmatic hernia. He was then treated at the Haar Veterinary Clinic on our behalf. Toni was completely healthy afterward and was returned to the Ruppaner family in excellent condition. We still have correspondence from them stating that Toni was doing very well and was a very sweet cat. We then heard nothing from them for seven years, and suddenly everything sounds completely different, with everyone else being blamed for the situation. Since we had originally placed Toni with the family, we were contacted again and offered to take Toni back and cover all further treatment costs. From our perspective, Toni would have still had a good chance. Unfortunately, the family chose to have Toni euthanized.

Outrageous & Exorbitant Prices Unbelievable what this so-called and highly praised cat vet did today! I came to her appointment on a recommendation with our cat. The cat is twelve years old and suffered serious injuries when he was young, which is why he absolutely wouldn't tolerate being touched until about six months ago. Anyway. He was already feeling worse two weeks ago, but I insisted on seeing Dr. Stommel, who was on vacation at the time. A terrible mistake, as it turned out. First, I was reprimanded for the animal's condition. When I didn't respond, I was asked if I lived in a care facility, since the animal looked so neglected? Meanwhile, my cat was given an IV and had various amounts of blood drawn. My cat was truly unwell, otherwise he wouldn't have tolerated the treatment. I was subjected to further rudeness and insults. Furthermore, my cat was photographed without my consent by a medical assistant, all three of whom treated me like I was invisible, using her smartphone, without any comment or explanation. It was clearly her personal phone. During this supposed Lazarus treatment, not a single word was explained about what was being done, what it might cost, or what other treatments were possible. Nor was there any mention of the substances being used. Absolutely nothing about it. The treatment cost €429. When I asked why it was so expensive, Dr. Stommel claimed I was standing there nodding along during the treatment! That is simply a lie. I am a patient person with a high degree of self-discipline – if only for professional reasons. What happened here today has completely baffled me. My entire family has always given animals, from cats to dogs and horses, a home, refuge, and love that no one else would have! To find out today that I'm an animal abuser – unbelievable. Our cat is just as miserable and pitiful as ever, lying on his favorite bed for hours. Financially, I'm now having serious trouble making ends meet this month. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

For many years we have taken our animals to Dr. Stommel and have always been very satisfied with her and her lovely team. She is friendly, competent, and doesn't just go through the standard procedure; she examines each patient thoroughly and thinks outside the box. We can wholeheartedly recommend her, and so can our cats :)

Thank you for being so helpful with my dog and treating her so kindly. Even though I had no appointment, they treated the dog and she was recovered in a few days.
