Tierarztpraxis Hannover West in Ahlem

Since I only have one hamster as a pet, I can only comment on their hamster care. However, I'm sure this practice would be wonderful for any animal. I've been there twice with my hamster. Both times, everyone was very friendly. The vet took her time and did everything calmly. I didn't feel rushed at all. Making an appointment was very quick and easy; the second time, I even got an appointment the same day because I needed urgent treatment. The first time, my hamster had cheilitis (a type of sore throat) and was losing fur. The vet sprayed him with a mite treatment and recommended the supplement Alfavet RodiCare Derma (which also helped in this case: my hamster was much better after just one week). The visit cost €37, and the treatment cost around €18. I paid €80 for the same treatment (mite treatment) two weeks prior with another vet. The second time, my hamster fell and was limping afterward. I was worried he'd broken something. The vet examined him thoroughly and prescribed pain medication. The bill, including the medication, came to around €30. I think that's fantastic. Both times I went to Dr. Anette Klawitter, a wonderful veterinarian. I highly recommend her practice! As a patient, you feel extremely well cared for there, and I also really appreciate the calm and professional manner of the staff.

My Yogi Bear was treated at the Hannover West veterinary clinic from 2020 to 2026. During this time, we had the opportunity to meet all the veterinarians and veterinary assistants. Since Yogi was diagnosed with dementia and chronic pain in early 2025, we visited the clinic regularly. We always received professional advice and support with all our questions and concerns. My observations about Yogi's condition were always taken seriously and documented. The team always took the time to ask further questions to help my Yogi. During every visit, I noticed how much the animal's well-being was their top priority. If the competent veterinarians didn't know what to do, they always referred us to specialists or to the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo). It was also particularly important to me that they accepted my difficult decision to euthanize him without question. Before and during the euthanasia, the team at the Hannover West veterinary clinic was always there for us. I know the veterinarians truly did everything they could to help my Yogi, but eventually, even the best medicine can't stop death. My Yogi lived to be almost 14 years old despite all his health issues, and thus still lived a long and fulfilling life. Without the expertise of these incomparable veterinarians, my Yogi wouldn't have lived so long. Their dedication deserves the highest recognition! I can therefore wholeheartedly recommend this veterinary practice and hope that the team remains together in its current form and can continue to help other animals like my Yogi. Because there's one more thing I want to say: euthanasia was also a help. It freed my Yogi from suffering, fear, and the loss of control, all of which he could no longer comprehend. Thank you for all the years! Thank you for such wonderful people practicing such a valuable profession!

I've been coming here with my two cats for many years and I'm extremely satisfied. My two furry friends are already 18 years old, and when my Cera became very ill and we considered putting her down, the whole team managed to get her back on her feet. For me, Dr. Klawitter is the best veterinarian we've ever had. She's always very thorough, empathetic, and sensitive, and she always treats our rabbits with great care. Because she specializes in rabbits, which isn't always the case with veterinarians, we always receive excellent advice. I'm so happy and grateful that we have such a wonderful vet!

I (and Frau Holle) have only good things to say. We haven't had a real emergency, though, and we hope never to. But if we did, we'd gladly give the same rating! 🐕
