Visit with our dog to receive tape worm treatment and have the identification chip confirmed, for return to the UK. Easy process and everybody was super nice.

We first visited the veterinary practice with our puppy in mid-February and initially had a very positive impression – friendly veterinarians, a pleasant atmosphere, we felt well cared for. However, at the end of February, our dog started coughing badly, so we returned at the beginning of March. Two veterinarians listened to his heart but came to completely different conclusions. After an X-ray, we were told that his heart was enlarged, abnormal, and could be pressing on his trachea – we should consult a cardiologist if necessary. However, it turned out immediately that his heart was perfectly healthy. Back at the practice, after a brief examination, laryngitis was diagnosed, and cough syrup was prescribed. The cough improved somewhat but never completely disappeared. Nevertheless, at the next examination, it was decided to vaccinate and deworm him – with the explanation that they were "taking the risk now." Afterward, his condition deteriorated significantly; the cough worsened, and he seemed much more unwell overall. It was only at the specialist center that our dog received a truly thorough examination (approximately 1.5 hours, including new X-rays, lab tests, and a stool sample). The result: the bronchi are affected, presumably by lungworms. We were also clearly told there that such causes should normally be investigated early on and that the vaccination without a confirmed diagnosis very likely worsened the condition. What particularly disappointed us was that the examinations at the clinic often only lasted a few minutes, there were conflicting statements within the team, and basic diagnostic tests such as stool or blood work weren't even considered. Instead, several diagnoses were made, which later turned out to be incorrect. The costs are also difficult for us to understand: at Medivet, we paid significantly more overall for X-rays, treatments, and medications that ultimately didn't bring about any lasting improvement. At the specialist center, on the other hand, we paid around €285 for a comprehensive examination including a clear diagnosis and treatment plan. The veterinarians were friendly and helpful, I would like to emphasize that. However, we found the practice lacking in professional thoroughness, a clear strategy, and careful root cause analysis. Unfortunately, this experience has led to a loss of trust, and we will not be using this practice again.

Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience. Two stars are for the opening hours (Saturdays until 4 pm and the possibility of bringing our dog in at 1:30 pm even though we weren't regular customers). All the staff were friendly. However, the treatment was more than incompetent, completely overpriced, and partly contradictory. We came with our dog (diarrhea, blood in his stool, vomiting). The only treatment was an injection for nausea, and only after repeated requests did they give us something for the pain. The explanation was that they were reluctant to stop the diarrhea because it had an underlying cause, or rather, they only treated it to a limited extent. That may be true, but then they sold us expensive anti-diarrheal tablets for six days. During the examination, they supposedly found a "child's head-sized 'bulge'" in his abdomen that needed to be investigated. Not acute, but in the near future??? Despite repeated requests for an ultrasound (there were no other patients in the practice and it was still regular opening hours), it was refused because it wasn't urgent and probably not the cause of the problem, and they said it would contaminate the ultrasound machine and they also wanted to prevent further discomfort for the dog. They told me not to worry too much. Two days of anxiety. An ultrasound at the regular vet – who didn't feel anything and was certain there was nothing wrong... no one could explain what the Medivet representative had felt. Two injections, a physical examination, a full examination billed, plus an additional examination of a single organ. They gave me anti-nausea tablets to take home (they only had enough for one day – these things happen), anti-diarrheal medication, and intestinal paste. €287 poorer and two sleepless nights. Unbelievable! Definitely not recommended!

We are extremely satisfied with Dr. Gehrke and the entire team. Despite his young age, our dog unfortunately had severe dental problems and, according to the practice, was a particularly challenging case. We were all the more impressed by the professional, calm, and meticulous treatment. We would especially like to emphasize that a cardiological examination was explicitly recommended before the dental surgery to clarify any potential risks. A finding was indeed discovered during this examination, and we are very grateful that it was investigated so thoroughly and not simply ignored. It's clear that the work here is carried out responsibly, proactively, and with the utmost medical care. The surgeries themselves went exceptionally well, and our dog recovered remarkably quickly and almost without any discomfort. It's obvious how much better he is now.
