Without question the best vet in Berlin. Amazingly competent and kind team, super personable and responsive and our little Lela loves them!!
Excellent vet. Got an appointment quickly and the vet spent 45 minutes with our dog … fantastic service.
Truly top veterinarian. They’ve helped us so much over the years as our dogs have aged, including a major eye removal surgery.
We brought our 14-year-old cat to this clinic due to a loss of appetite. The staff were attentive and carried out multiple tests — including X-ray, ultrasound, and blood work — for which we paid around 600 euros in total. After the exams, they prescribed 1mg of Peritol (cyproheptadine) to stimulate appetite. What we weren’t told is that this medication is a strong antihistamine with sedative effects and that it works on the nervous system. 2h after taking the medicine, our cat became completely unresponsive and immobile We called the clinic in distress, but they didn’t mention the possibility that the drug could be causing this reaction. We had to research it ourselves and found that 1mg is an critical upper-limit and could be an overdose for a cat of her size. Tragically, she passed away the next morning. While we can’t be 100% certain, we strongly suspect the medication played a role, especially given the timing and dosage. We’re heartbroken and disappointed that we weren’t properly informed about the risks of the medication or its sedative effects. Transparency about side effects and correct dosage is critical — especially when treating older animals. Based on our experience, I can’t recommend this clinic.
I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Sonnenberg and her team for the exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly treatment of our dog Ringo (a 13-year-old Lagotto). The diagnosis was difficult to make. While other veterinarians we consulted were unable to provide a conclusive diagnosis, Dr. Sonnenberg immediately recognized the (extremely rare) problem our dog was suffering from. She promptly took all necessary medical measures and explained precisely what illness our dog had and how to manage it. After about four weeks, Ringo is doing much better, and we are once again enjoying our dog's company and having fun together! We are very grateful to Dr. Sonnenberg and can wholeheartedly recommend her. A truly wonderful, animal- and people-friendly practice with the highest level of medical and social expertise. All the best to the entire team from Dr. Bernd Hohmann and family.
