Our wirehaired dachshund Ludwig started gagging and coughing repeatedly during the night of October 31st to November 1st, 2025. Of course, it was a public holiday! We suspected something was stuck in his throat. It got worse in the evening, so we drove him to the AniCura Clinic in Heilbronn. The receptionist was very friendly. A nice assistant took his medical history. After the initial examination, the doctor suspected that nothing was stuck in his throat, but rather that he had inflamed bronchi. An X-ray confirmed this. We were given drops to take, but the doctor didn't want to recommend antibiotics at this time, as his condition didn't require them. All in all, we were extremely satisfied with the - friendliness and - helpfulness of the entire team - the expertise of the doctor, who explained the X-rays to us in detail and in an easy-to-understand way... and also mentioned that the X-rays weren't exactly cheap. Considering the holiday, the late hour, and the quick assistance, the total amount was reasonable. In any case, we left the clinic with the comforting feeling of knowing what was wrong with Ludwig and that he had received the help he needed – with great sensitivity and empathy for the little patient.
