Reviews
This vet is absolutely irresponsible and incompetent. Avoid him at all costs. If your pet has real problems, go to a different vet, for example, Dr. Trong in Meiningen. He saved our dog once. Dr. Karl's diagnosis, on the other hand, was completely wrong and dragged everything out for weeks. Our dog would have died. We actually only wanted to see him one more time because our dog was getting worse and worse, and we didn't want to drive all the way to Meiningen. Dr. Karl simply gave him painkillers and something to build muscle at a high price. He absolutely couldn't tolerate these medications. When we brought our dog in, he simply injected him with more painkillers. He then completely collapsed. We decided to see Dr. Trong in Meiningen. There, we learned that our dog has severe arthritis. That should have been obvious. Dr. Karl didn't even recognize that. After blood tests, it turned out that our dog had kidney failure. There were already visible signs due to the specific body odor he had recently developed. Even his sister had noticed it. Our dear dog was completely exhausted and his teeth were chattering. He was weak, couldn't get up, and wouldn't eat anything. He'd never been this bad. It's highly likely that Dr. Karl's indiscriminate injections of painkillers caused irreversible kidney damage. Because of this medical error, our dog had to be euthanized, as we didn't want him to suffer. He would have survived a maximum of two more weeks on liquid nutrition. Don't make our mistake and absolutely seek out competent veterinarians who don't just blindly follow instructions. If we had known this, our dog would very likely have lived much longer. We are heartbroken.
For years, the entire team at Karl's veterinary practice has cared for our animals, and we are very satisfied with the treatments and the prices! We especially appreciate the prompt emergency care, even outside of regular business hours. Thank you all so much!
I would also like to say something about this. I have just been to see him and it is now after 7 p.m. when the practice closes and at 7 p.m. he knows that I have real problems with my Bodo, a Dogue de Bordeaux. He has epilepsy and has had it for years. When I need him, he is always there, no matter what time it is. There is no better doctor and I have been to many doctors in Schmalkalden and the surrounding area.
Disappointing and irresponsible â never again! I am deeply disappointed with this practice. My dog ââreceived inadequate treatment for weeks. Although we were there regularly, I had to explain the problem to the vet at every appointment. There was apparently no patient file, which is completely unprofessional. My questions were barely addressed; everything was brushed aside or dragged out. What was particularly upsetting was that my dog ââshould have had surgery long ago, which the new vet immediately recognized. She was appalled that he had been allowed to suffer for so long. The constant postponement was not only irresponsible but also unnecessarily painful for my pet. Furthermore, I had the impression that they were more concerned with money than my dog's health. Unclear treatments, questionable medications, and hardly any real explanation. Trust was broken multiple times. I am certain: I cannot recommend this practice in any way. Anyone who truly loves their pet should go elsewhere.
Fantastic veterinarian! Empathetic, takes the time to explain everything and answer every question. Available in emergencies, even outside of office hours. During consultations, the animals' well-being is always the priority, not profit. He has a great deal of understanding for all pet owners who see their beloved animals as full-fledged family members and react accordingly.
