Reviews
Unfortunately, I haven't had a good experience with this practice. Both I and my friends have experienced incidents that caused great suffering for the animals. In one case, dental problems were treated. It was reported that the teeth had been removed during surgery, including X-rays. However, it later turned out at another practice specializing in dentistry that the inflamed tooth roots were still fully embedded in the jaw and several other teeth were affected. A total of 10 teeth ultimately had to be extracted. According to the practice, this would have been clearly visible on a special dental X-ray, as a regular X-ray is not sufficient for this. Another time, an animal had to be euthanized after a serious accident. Nevertheless, they initially referred to ongoing surgeries, which unnecessarily delayed treatment. This placed considerable additional stress on the animal. Other aspects also gave me the impression that older procedures are being used here. Be it in anesthesia, vaccines, or general organization. The attending veterinarian seems friendly, but often a bit distracted, which doesn't give me a good feeling about a veterinary practice. The prices are comparatively lower. All in all, I've lost my trust in this practice and would recommend a specialized or modernly equipped practice for more complex or urgent cases.
Our Beagle Odin had a torn ligament and after many phone calls with veterinarians and clinics where the waiting time was up to two months, we were advised to contact Dr. Wenkel and we were not disappointed. An extremely nice team plus a very friendly and competent veterinarian where everything went smoothly from the initial consultation to the operation!!! One of the best veterinarians I have had the pleasure of meeting so far... Thank you for that.
We initially visited the practice to get a second opinion regarding a growth. Even on the phone, our first impression was very positive. An appointment was scheduled within a few days. You consistently get the feeling that Dr. Wenkel takes the time to provide thorough and competent advice. This sometimes results in slightly longer waiting times (though never more than 30 minutes). The entire practice team was always polite and professional. We were very satisfied with the treatment. We were particularly impressed by the excellent preparation. For example, several phone calls were made between the examination and the surgery to check on the animal's condition. Even with a major procedure, as was the case for us, you feel confident in the care.
A few months ago, I took my 14-year-old cat to Dr. Wenkell – unfortunately, for a very sad reason. My poor little guy was diagnosed with cancer that was no longer treatable, and prolonging his life would only have meant more suffering for him. I want to thank Dr. Wenkell from the bottom of my heart: for his great empathy, his patience, and for taking so much time to discuss everything with me in detail and in a way I could easily understand. He very sensitively explained to me that animals, unfortunately, cannot make decisions for themselves – and that this difficult decision therefore rests with us. The entire process was handled as gently as possible, even though it was, of course, still incredibly painful for me. Dr. Wenkell and his assistant truly did everything they could to make this difficult moment as bearable and dignified as possible for me. Thank you so much for that. I wholeheartedly recommend him.
