I called because my dog ​​is in pain and we're on vacation. Our usual vet is hundreds of kilometers away! This clinic isn't a clinic anymore!!! It's just a referral clinic now 😂🤣 They're abandoning animals in pain!!!

I regularly take my two cats there. I've tried several veterinary practices in the area and would always choose the animal clinic in Duissern. My older cat had a tumor removed at the clinic last year, and the telephone consultation with Dr. Maslov(?) after the surgery went very well. We received excellent advice before and after the operation. I go there every two months for follow-up appointments and can recommend Dr. Schoen for cats. I think she has a real way with cats, takes her time with them, calms them down, and discusses all the options with the owner. She's very open about the fact that you shouldn't put too much strain on an older cat and gently prepares you for the approaching end. So you don't get the feeling that the vets are just trying to make a quick buck. It's true that it's difficult to get through by phone. However, I've always booked my recent check-up appointments by email, and that's worked perfectly. Most importantly, I've always been able to request an appointment with Dr. Schoen, and that's always worked out so far. You need to be very patient while waiting at the vet's office (even with an appointment), as it's very busy and emergencies are understandably given priority. My only criticism: the surgery for my cat was initially estimated to cost around €800. In the end, it came to about €1400. That's a big difference. You have to be prepared for this amount, as it had to be paid the very next day, otherwise you couldn't take your pet home.

Please get a second opinion if your pet has any problems or illnesses. My dog ​​needed eye surgery because she had mucus in one eye in the morning. Dr. Saers' diagnosis didn't make sense to me, and the appointment for the surgery (to cut blood vessels and suture the nictitating membrane) was scheduled far too quickly. Therefore, I went to a veterinary ophthalmologist in Bonn. After a thorough examination, which included checking her eye pressure and tear production, it turned out that my dog ​​wasn't producing enough tears, which was the cause of her dry eye. Diagnosis: Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), or dry eye. Thanks to two eye gels/creams, her eye looks great again, and most importantly, my dog ​​avoided unnecessary surgery. I don't want to question the competence of the veterinary clinic or Dr. Saers, but the diagnosis was wrong, would have cost a lot of money, and most importantly, wouldn't have helped the animal.

I can only say that we find it sad that we have to pay these huge bills of over 500 euros immediately. We're a household with two children and simply can't pay that large sum all at once. They even refused to treat our dog because of it. It's sad that people are so obsessed with money. After all, they're living beings too. It's sad how things are these days.

I've known this clinic for about 30 years and have always valued it. However, my recent visits have been very disappointing. About six weeks ago, a simple ultrasound could have revealed a foreign object over 1 cm long lodged in the tissue beneath my dog's fur, causing a severe, abscess-like phlegmon. Instead, an expensive CT scan with biopsy was performed – costing over €1,000 – which ultimately yielded no usable results. The subsequent antibiotic treatment was therefore an unnecessary waste of time, money, and my dog's health, as the actual cause, a simple foreign object, remained untreated. Only today – about seven weeks later – did the specialist veterinary center in Cologne-Merheim, after sedation and a targeted ultrasound, make the correct diagnosis and surgically remove the foreign object. Based on these experiences, I can no longer recommend this clinic and sincerely hope that the management will place greater emphasis on quality, diligence, and effective diagnostics in the future.
