Reviews
We took our cat to this veterinary practice several times and were always very satisfied. The following review refers exclusively to our experience with the second surgery in early 2025. Our cat was spayed at this practice in May 2024. In early 2025, she again showed signs of being in heat. We described this at our appointment but were initially told that it was "unlikely." Further diagnostic testing was not suggested at that time; instead, a second surgery was recommended and performed. In the documents we subsequently received, this matter is marked with a question mark. Since she is now exhibiting the same symptoms of being in heat again, we sought further professional opinions and contacted three other veterinarians. All three asked why an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) test hadn't been performed first – this option had unfortunately not been suggested to us beforehand. This test came back clear. The veterinarian there informed us by telephone: "Your cat is definitely not spayed." This practice also referred us to a veterinary clinic for further evaluation, noting, among other things, that the first surgery had been complicated by significant abdominal fat, as documented in the records. The now necessary laparotomy at a veterinary clinic will incur additional costs for us and cause our cat extra stress – stress we could have spared her at least once if the third surgery had been the second. We would have appreciated more transparency, diagnostic evaluation, and – if necessary – a referral to a specialized facility prior to the second surgery. The veterinarians we consulted later also emphasized the importance of comprehensive diagnostics before considering further surgery. Two veterinarians and a surgical technician were involved in the current procedure. It's possible that some tissue may have been left behind after the first surgery – this criticism is not intended to address that. We would have been perfectly fine with them refusing the second operation, and it would have been understandable in a one-person practice, especially since the vet explained that the remaining ovarian tissue hadn't been easy to locate because it had already migrated. But as laypeople, hindsight is always 20/20. For comparison: Our other cat was also spayed at this practice – without any complications.
I was here twice now because my vet was on vacation. I got an appointment the next day. My cat had a bloody bladder infection. Very nice doctor, examined my cat thoroughly. He also treated my cat very sensitively. The diagnosis and advice about medication were understandable. The price was OK. A bit more than what I pay at my doctor.
We had to take our cat to the emergency vet yesterday. He was very friendly and helpful. Despite the conditions (snow), he arrived promptly and treated him very gently. I'm so glad everything turned out so well and we were able to take our cat home. We went to the emergency vet at 1 a.m., and he was very competent, listened attentively, and reassured me as a pet owner. I highly recommend him.
After our emergency vet was closed—for whatever reason—I came across Dr. Dickmann. Luckily, he was on call and was able to take my cat for treatment. Thank you so much that there are still vets like you out there; you're truly worth your weight in gold! The price was great! Dr. Dickmann is super friendly ❤️
