Reviews
I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone with an urgent emergency. Unfortunately, it was fatal for my dog because the on-duty veterinarian, when I suggested it might be gastric torsion, tried to explain at a snail's pace that she was just checking what was wrong, instead of taking my suggestion seriously. Everything pointed to gastric torsion. As a result, my dog wasted a precious 1.5 hours (examination, waiting for the bill, and then the trip to Duisburg). Sadly, my dog collapsed at the clinic. I was told that if I had arrived two hours earlier, they could have saved her. So, in an emergency, it's best to seek out a competent veterinarian.
It's been a while now, but the positive impression I had of Dr. Roeb has stayed with me. Our beloved Golden Retriever, Pascha, had to be euthanized, and after our vet refused to make a house call, I called Dr. Roeb on Saturday evening. We wanted to give Pascha the chance to spend his final days at home. And what can I say? Dr. Roeb came—even though we weren't patients there, even though it was Saturday evening, even though she had to travel all the way to Altena! We will never forget that! It wasn't something we took for granted, and we still appreciate it today!
Writing this review is not easy for me. At this veterinary practice, we were advised to have our cat euthanized, preferably immediately. This was a very painful moment for us, especially since there was no clear written diagnosis. It was the deadly FIP virus, and our cat was in critical condition. We left feeling utterly helpless. Based on our gut feeling (and our own research), we decided to get a second opinion and not give up. Another veterinarian treated our cat the next day despite her very serious condition and didn't give up on her. Today, nine months later, our cat is doing well again and is free of the virus that was fatal at the time. We are incredibly grateful for that. This experience showed us how important it is to listen to your gut feeling and, when in doubt, to get a second opinion. Pet owners will know that you can't just give up on your beloved animal and that you try every possible option before doing so. Unfortunately, based on our personal experience, we cannot recommend this practice.
A practice with heart ♥!!! I've been taking my animals to Dr. Roeb for many years and am always touched by the warmth of this team 👍🏻. Sadly, I had to have my beloved "Grandpa" cat put to sleep, and thus, for the time being, I was able to accompany my last pet on its final journey 😢. But in this practice, my little one and I felt so wonderfully cared for and "hugged" again – it couldn't have been better! Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤
Dr. Roeb is an absolutely competent veterinarian who takes plenty of time for each patient and explains everything in detail. The team is also incredibly friendly, helpful, and highly skilled. The way the animals are treated couldn't be better.
