Scene of the crime: Veterinarian: Dog's symptoms: Severe itching, reddened abdomen, sensitive to touch First visit: Diagnosis: Probably just an allergic reaction. Treatment: Antibiotics and tablets (approx. €4 each) Second visit after 2 weeks (we had specifically requested an appointment for a blood test): Diagnosis: Fleas (although even the vet didn't find any while combing). A blood test must be done on an empty stomach! Why isn't the dog fasting at 5 pm? (Follow-up question: Why are blood test appointments even scheduled for the afternoon, and then without any explanation?) Conclusion: No blood test possible, diagnosis: fleas or other parasites, requiring proper medication. So, I had to get Bravecto (not exactly cheap, and then there was a 100-pack of anti-itch tablets (yes, another €4 each)). But at least I got an appointment for a blood test the next morning, which was then canceled by the vet due to illness and subsequently rescheduled several times... Conclusion: I've had enough and I'm switching vets. Result: Blood test available immediately, and the diagnosis a day later: mange. So, a heartfelt thank you to the competent vets at Nord Ostsee Tierärzte for making it nearly five months now for us to fight to get our two dogs' mange under control... If you'd like to spend hundreds of euros on incompetence, this is the place for you!
I am always satisfied; we have a total of four Yorkshire Terriers being treated there and we can't imagine a better veterinarian.
After 3 unsuccessful treatment attempts with my 2 dogs, I changed veterinarians.
