For almost 40 years, I have been more than satisfied and, above all, grateful for the dedication of the veterinarians, and equally so the staff and office workers at the Salzhofen Equine Clinic, to the health of my horses and my (now grown) children's Icelandic ponies. A heartfelt thank you to them all. Most recently, Ms. Lorenz took a great deal of time to examine my difficult mare. She didn't dismiss her as difficult, but patiently addressed her needs (emergency appointment due to severe respiratory distress, regular appointment, and bronchoscopy). And she was just as patient with the owner ;-) I was able to ask her anything, whether in person or on the phone. I am confident that we will learn how to manage equine asthma. Solitaire and Solitaire's mom say thank you 🫶🏻

We cannot express in words how grateful we all are for what this clinic has done for us. Dr. Reichert and his team fought with everything they possibly could for our school horse, Imbra, who was suffering from cancer. Thank you for not giving up. Thank you for so much support, passion, and dedication. Thank you for allowing us to bring our horse 🐴 home healthy again.

Okay in an emergency. I've known the clinic for a few years and have only ever used it in emergencies or when my regular vet was on vacation. Even so, I've rarely been satisfied with my visit. Most recently, a hoof abscess was diagnosed, which turned out to be cellulitis, and the treatment significantly worsened the underlying problem. Furthermore, there have always been issues with the bills. The last one was backdated, and the payment deadline had already passed before the bill even arrived in my mailbox. In the past, they failed to update my address (despite my repeated requests), and I was still expected to pay the resulting late fees. There have also been bills for treatments that were never performed, or medications were billed for the wrong dosage. A vet I had specifically requested for an X-ray after a previous appointment forgot his X-ray machine and only told me after my horse had been sedated (of course, I was billed for that). Generally, the constantly changing staff also makes me suspicious. It seems like hardly any employed veterinarian lasts longer than 12 months in Bretten. In conclusion: if my horse urgently needs help, my regular vet is unavailable, and traveling to another clinic is out of the question, then I would contact Salzhofen. In all other cases, I wouldn't.

Within three weeks, we had both our ponies at the clinic: one for a ligament surgery and the other for acute, severe conjunctivitis. Both ponies received highly competent treatment, and communication with the veterinarians was excellent. Many thanks to Dr. Reichert and Dr. Klingelhöfer. We would also like to thank the friendly receptionists and especially the two stable hands, Petru and Costel, who ensured a spotless stall and excellent hay every day. We felt very well cared for and knew our ponies were in the best hands.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this clinic. After my horse's surgery there, I was regularly informed about its condition, and every step, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment, was discussed with me in detail. Dr. Reichert and the clinic staff were consistently very competent and friendly. Dropping off and picking up the horse was also completely straightforward.
