Unfortunately, we witnessed how, in an absolute emergency (a dog's respiratory arrest), this practice prioritized profit over empathy. Instead of caring for the animal, completely arbitrary prices for euthanasia were quoted over the phone and in person. The demands jumped from €400 to €200, and finally, in front of witnesses, it was claimed that it actually cost €500. Such behavior is more reminiscent of an auction than emergency medical care. Anyone who wants to treat their pet with dignity should avoid this practice. Financial exploitation of pet owners in moments of shock seems to be standard practice here. Absolutely not recommended.

One star because -5 isn't an option. How can anyone be so abysmal? My mother called the vet because her miniature pinscher collapsed and lay there for a minute and a half without breathing. After my mother heartbrokenly stroked her, she suddenly came to, but was completely out of it. She then called this vet. On the phone, he initially quoted €400, then, after some prodding, €200 for euthanasia, like haggling at a Turkish bazaar. When he arrived, he then stated in front of witnesses that, according to the price list, it normally costs €500. A complete and utter rip-off! This practice is absolutely not recommended!!!

Today, May 13, 2026, around 8:30 p.m., my 13-year-old Pinscher collapsed, her tongue hanging blue from her mouth. She wasn't breathing and was freezing cold. After about two minutes, she started breathing slightly. I called the Steinfeld Animal Clinic, which transferred me to the BSB (Bavarian State Association for Animal Welfare). The vet on the phone said that a visit to my home, including euthanasia, would cost around €400. He then, like at a bazaar, lowered the price to €200. When he arrived—he came from Dinklage—my dog was back on her feet. We decided against euthanasia. I asked him how much I would have to pay. He didn't answer but said he would send an invoice. I'm curious to see what that will be. He seems to have forgotten that today isn't the weekend. Should the bill turn out to be as exorbitant as the sums he mentioned, I will make it public.

"Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this veterinary practice. In my opinion, the prices are completely exorbitant. Every little thing is charged extra on the bill, resulting in totals that are utterly incomprehensible. You get the feeling that it's more about the money than the animals' well-being. On top of that, the staff's friendliness leaves much to be desired. You don't feel particularly welcome or taken seriously. Especially when you're already worried about your pet, you expect a bit more understanding and respectful treatment."
