Instead of caring for the animal, completely arbitrary prices for euthanasia were quoted over the phone and in person. The demands jumped from €400 to €200, and finally, in front of witnesses, it was claimed that it actually cost €500. Such behavior is more reminiscent of an auction than emergency medical care. Anyone who wants to treat their pet with dignity should avoid this practice. Financial exploitation of pet owners in moments of shock seems to be standard practice here. Absolutely not recommended.

After about two minutes, she started breathing slightly. I called the Steinfeld Animal Clinic, which transferred me to the BSB (Bavarian State Association for Animal Welfare). The vet on the phone said that a visit to my home, including euthanasia, would cost around €400. He then, like at a bazaar, lowered the price to €200. When he arrived—he came from Dinklage—my dog ​​was back on her feet. We decided against euthanasia. I asked him how much I would have to pay. He didn't answer but said he would send an invoice. I'm curious to see what that will be. He seems to have forgotten that today isn't the weekend. Should the bill turn out to be as exorbitant as the sums he mentioned, I will make it public.
