Reviews
I actually came there because of a great recommendation. The employee on the phone was super friendly, and I got an appointment quickly. Then, despite having an appointment, I unfortunately had to wait almost an hour, even though there were no other patients. My pet wasn't treated by the vet as I expected, but by an employee who didn't even introduce herself. I didn't know if she was a veterinarian. As a new "patient," this was a strange situation, especially since the person treating me wasn't exactly friendly or approachable. A shame.
Brief review: On February 9th, 2024, I took my dog Zita to a new veterinarian working for Dr. Elsässer because she wasn't feeling well. She had a fever and diarrhea; her fever was already 38°C (100.4°F), but the vet didn't treat it properly. It cost €220, but there was no recommendation to go to an animal hospital, as it was the Friday before Carnival. On Saturday, she collapsed in the meadow, and we went to the animal hospital in Plieningen. Her fever was 40.8°C (101.8°F)!! And on Monday, I had to have her euthanized!!!! Since Dr. Keck left, I will never go back to that practice, even though all the receptionists are super nice, but a vet like that... no thanks!
My mother-in-law's dog was a regular patient of Dr. Elsässer. Unfortunately, he repeatedly made incorrect diagnoses, forcing us to take the dog to the emergency vet several times. Finally, a good alternative medicine practitioner was able to make the correct diagnosis in five minutes using a microscope. It cost €50, whereas before we had spent €1000 at the vet, who unfortunately didn't bother to examine the dog properly. Therefore, I would strongly advise against visiting this vet. Even after being informed of the situation, he didn't deem it necessary to call my mother-in-law's owner to inquire about the animal's condition. This clearly shows that he doesn't care about the animal, but rather about the money, and he unfortunately handles criticism very poorly. That's the kind of thing you have to listen to when you don't examine the dog properly. If the problem had been diagnosed in time, the dog wouldn't have had to suffer for weeks. That's acceptable to me.
We've been going to this practice for over 20 years now. Mr. Elsässer and his team do a fantastic job. Even when we needed an appointment at short notice, they always found a suitable solution. We are very satisfied.
We took my dog to have her nails trimmed today, and it was a complete disaster. I've never experienced anything like it. Dr. Elsässer injured three of my dog's nails, causing her to howl uncontrollably, and then he even yelled at her. I will never visit this practice again. To me, that's no veterinarian. I'm speechless. Never again! The way he treats animals is shameful.
