Tierarztpraxis Osterath Dr. K. Römhild

My gerbil (rennmaus) had a tumor and was already bleeding when I discovered it. I called my normal vet and they said that they don't have any expert for small animals like mice and recommend Tierartzpraxis Osterath. I called them and after hearing that it was bleeding, they agreed to see my gerbil the same day. His surgery was planned and carried out within the next two days. Really great doctor, very helpful staff at the counter, gave us an overview of price beforehand as well. Highly recommend them!

This will be a lengthy comment, but it is necessary. I want to share our experience with veterinarians before we found "Tierarztpraxis Osterath." We came to Germany seven years ago with our dog, who was eight years old at the time. As she aged, her health issues began to increase. We tried to remain consistent with our choice of veterinarian to ensure they were familiar with her history, which would hopefully make her check-ups less stressful. Unfortunately, we found that each time a diagnosis was needed, we were given very little information about our dog's condition. Even when we requested more details and additional tests, this was often done reluctantly or not at all. As our dog’s health continued to decline, we were simply told she was old and that not much could be done. Again, we asked for more information about what was wrong with her, but we received no answers. We decided to seek a second opinion and reached out to "Tierartspraxis Osterath." They accommodated us on short notice and arranged an appointment. From the very beginning, they treated us and our dog with far more understanding than any other veterinary clinic we had visited. The staff listened carefully to our concerns and asked direct questions about our dog's behavior and her previous treatments. During the check-up, they suggested additional tests, explained what those tests could reveal, and provided information about their costs. After the tests were completed, we were shown the results. We discovered several issues, some of which were treatable and unfortunately missed by our previous veterinarians. Sadly, we also learned that there were some permanent and untreatable conditions. With heavy hearts, we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our beloved companion of 15 years. In just one hour, we received more information and options regarding our dog's treatment than we had from all our visits to other vets combined. The process of saying goodbye to our dog was handled with incredible compassion. She was given a soft new blanket, a candle was lit, and we had all the time we needed to say our goodbyes, both before and after. We received a small keepsake with her initials, and a few days later, we received a handwritten card from Praxis expressing their condolences. If that isn't a high level of care, I'm not sure what is. We had only one appointment, but it meant everything to us. Thank you once again for all that you did. We are still grieving, but it brings us comfort to know that her last day was filled with love and compassion.

Super Team, super

I have three cats and go to this practice with a healthy dose of cat-helicopter-mom energy. And I'm taken seriously every single time. There's no assembly-line atmosphere, no feeling like the clock is ticking while you're still talking. You're listened to, even if you have a lot of questions, even if you have worries that might seem exaggerated. My cat had dental surgery yesterday. We used the time while he was under anesthesia to do some further examinations and actually found even more reasons for his pained expression. What impressed me almost more: He was completely relaxed after the surgery. As if nothing had happened at all. I've been to many dental practices. I can wholeheartedly recommend this one.
