Reviews
Technically, he's certainly a competent vet, but that's where the positives end. He's not easy to deal with personally, and the prices he charges are outrageous. Several thousand euros for a dental treatment that was laughed off at in a clinic. The insurance company must be thrilled 😔. The same treatment for two horses cost a fraction of that at the clinic. We didn't receive the bill until many months later. We learned this lesson the hard way and will choose different vets in the future.
Even one star isn't too much for Dr. Gentz. After three years, I received a bill for a treatment that, as listed, was never performed. Medications were given that were A) very expensive and B) completely unnecessary. The insurance company has been informed of all these incidents, and I hope that no one else has to suffer from this despicable scam. I would not recommend Dr. Gentz to anyone. 1,600 euros for dental work is outrageous!
Unfortunately, I too must agree with the negative reviews. The treatment itself may have been competently performed, but the billing, which only reached us over three years after the treatment, is a joke. I very rarely write reviews, but this approach shocked me. It's clear they're trying to get the maximum amount from the insurance company. Absurd quantities of medication were left behind, which were neither requested nor necessary. After consulting with my current veterinarian, I've determined that the treatment costs are significantly higher than usual and reasonable. It's no wonder insurance premiums keep rising. On a personal level, I also found some of the comments made during the treatment difficult and condescending – you have to be really rude to do that.
I agree with many of the other opinions. The treatment was carried out professionally (it was "just" a standard dental procedure). BUT the most important thing here seems to be the possibility of billing my insurance. In return, in addition to the necessary treatment and medication, I was given over €600 worth of medication that my horse never needed and that I didn't want. This, of course, drives up the bill massively. But I think the highlight is that the practice actually managed to issue an invoice three years after the treatment. So, the rude awakening has come late.
