Always worth a visit. You call ahead to make an appointment, and then everything works out... She treats the animals with great care and knows what she's doing... You can tell she enjoys her job.
Many thanks to Dr. Hofmann and her team for the wonderful treatment. It's great that you're there.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel completely comfortable at this practice, even though there were some positive aspects. I would like to particularly commend the friendly and helpful staff at reception. I also found the appointment scheduling to be well-organized, resulting in hardly any waiting time – something I generally find very pleasant and appreciate. I understand that you don't have to like every dog or every size of dog. Nevertheless, I find it unfortunate when both dog and owner are so quickly pigeonholed. I may present myself as rather well-groomed and somewhat "doll-like," and I have a very small dog – this is precisely what gave me the impression that I was categorized early on, even before anyone had really taken the time to get to know me or my dog. My dog is very active, runs many kilometers every day, loves exercise, and enjoys a varied life. That's exactly why preventative care is at least as important to me as aftercare. I wanted to get specific information about preventative measures, especially dental hygiene. Unfortunately, I had the feeling that there was little interest in providing individual advice. Statements like the idea that dental care for dogs only works with a toothbrush, or that you can simply pull the teeth of small dogs later on anyway, really bothered me. My dog's quality of life is clearly my top priority, and I want to preserve it for as long as possible. My dog also received his vaccinations at this appointment. Unfortunately, I received very little information beforehand about how my dog might feel that day or in the hours that followed. After the vaccination, my dog was in so much pain that he yelped and was clearly unwell. This was very alarming for me, especially because I wasn't prepared for it. Luckily, I had people around me who helped me in this situation. Because I come from a medical background myself, I'm used to thinking preventively, educating people, and working together to find solutions. I missed this approach here. Whether this was due to a lack of time, personal attitude, or preconceived notions, I can't say – but I certainly didn't feel like I was being taken seriously. For comparison: I've had very positive experiences at other veterinary clinics, both as a walk-in patient and in emergencies. There, I received friendly, respectful, and competent advice, which showed me how important compassion and good communication are when dealing with pet owners. Unfortunately, I found communication, empathy, and acceptance of people who consciously want to take responsibility for their animals' health lacking at this practice. I find that very disappointing.
