I made an appointment to have my ring-necked parakeet (8 months old) have his nails and beak trimmed. She cut off way too much, and my parakeet screamed. It bled immediately, and while she said it wasn't a big deal, it was. He's now traumatized and very anxious. Next time, I'll trim them myself. After she finished, she forgot to close the cage, and he flew around the room like crazy until we caught him. His nails bled for two days afterward, so we won't be going back.

I NEVER normally write reviews, but this is about living creatures, not material services, which is why it's been bothering me. We contacted the practice on a Wednesday morning because our older cat (13+) had stopped eating. Although they kindly gave us an appointment at short notice, in hindsight it would have been better to refer us directly to another practice given the obvious lack of time. After a very brief conversation (five minutes) with the doctor, our cat stayed there for almost a day and a half for an infusion. Upon pickup on Thursday around 5 p.m., the handover was handled only by a medical assistant who, understandably, was unable to adequately answer our questions. So, we were sent off into the weekend with a sick, distraught animal, instructed to wait for the blood results and for him to eat. Our cat didn't really want to eat and showed little interest in doing so, which caused his condition to continue to deteriorate. Since we didn't really know what the exact problem or cause of his sudden, atypical loss of appetite was or could be, we were justifiably concerned – even though we were told at the time of delivery that he had tried a little dry and wet food and otherwise everything was fine. However, his behavior and condition (justifiably) worried us, and we decided to contact the emergency services on Sunday morning (fortunately). They immediately asked us to take the cat to them. After thorough examinations, a treatment was finally found without him having to stay in the hospital. Now we hope that it could be initiated in time. When no one had contacted us about the results on Monday, I called the practice myself. During this conversation, I learned that the blood work had actually been available since Saturday. This disappointed us again. As I've had pets all my life, I'm used to being actively informed by the practice of important findings, even if you can't necessarily expect this outside of office hours. This behavior has seriously undermined our trust, and we would have at least hoped that the laboratory would have been asked to forward the results directly to us. Despite the prompt, friendly reception, this was the first and last time I visited this veterinary practice.
