Super
I took my French Bulldog (female, 12 years old) to Dr. Dusi-Färber for the first time today and I'm absolutely thrilled. She's a very kind and competent veterinarian, and her prices are very reasonable. My usually rather anxious dog was very relaxed and seemed surprisingly comfortable.
We found the entire treatment to be opaque, unprofessional, and, in the way our questions were handled, personal and condescending. It was particularly problematic that medical statements and billing were incomprehensible to us, documents and invoices were not provided transparently, and inquiries were not answered objectively but rather taken personally. At the first appointment, our dog was not, in our opinion, given a physical examination. Although our 15-year-old Shiba Inu had been suffering from vomiting and diarrhea for several days, neither his temperature was taken, nor his abdomen palpated, nor his hydration level checked. Instead, we were primarily given medication and food. The statement regarding a massively elevated pancreatic enzyme level was later incomprehensible to us. We were told over the phone that this level was significantly elevated. However, we could not find this value in the documents we were subsequently given. Even the senior veterinarian at the veterinary clinic could not verify this statement based on the available blood test results from the clinic and the subsequent ultrasound examination. The communication regarding the blood test was contradictory, and the billing was incomprehensible to us. During the blood draw, we were told that two samples were actually planned: one for a basic blood count and one for a comprehensive blood count. Because our dog resisted strongly, only one sample could ultimately be taken. We were then told that this was sufficient for the basic blood count; the comprehensive blood count would be done later. It was all the more puzzling to us that the corresponding blood test results were already available later, and the comprehensive blood count had already been billed. When we inquired about this, no plausible explanation was given; instead, we were given the impression that we had misunderstood everything. The handling of the invoice, documents, and costs was not transparent. We were initially told not to see the invoice before payment. Only after our explicit insistence was it printed, and even then, we were told that we would be charged extra for the printout. The test results for forwarding to the clinic were also not provided automatically but had to be requested. The tone we encountered when we had questions was, in our opinion, condescending and inappropriate. When we wanted to understand the bill, our request was not handled professionally. Instead, we were met with remarks, including the implication that we would then have to explain to the clinic why we had "never" taken our dog to the vet. We found this completely inappropriate, especially since we had previously taken our dog to the practice for diarrhea. Furthermore, we had the impression that simply wanting to understand the bill before paying was viewed negatively. Our main problem wasn't just the treatment itself, but above all the lack of transparency, the contradictory communication, and the personal tone. In an already stressful situation, we felt poorly informed, not taken seriously, and not adequately supported.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this vet. After injections into our dog's flank following a temperature check, he developed sepsis with extensive cellulitis and necrosis. Our furry friend almost died and spent nearly three weeks in intensive care. Nine months later, he still suffers long-term effects. Despite emailing for support, the veterinarian never responded and showed no apparent interest. When I called the day after the injections to say our dog was limping, all I was told to do was take him to the animal hospital. Fantastic service. To this day, I don't know what was injected. The only thing the animal hospital confirmed was intestinal bacteria present in the cellulitis...
Initial contact due to an emergency. Our cat had a cut – we were seen and examined immediately. We were then informed that he would need stitches under anesthesia. This was done immediately afterwards, and we were able to pick up our cat that evening. The vet was very kind and empathetic, as was her entire team. Highly recommended. Thank you so much!
