Dr.med. vet. Steffen Knauer

Now that our kitten was euthanized by Mr. Steffen Knauer after 5 months, I'd like to share my experience. We moved to Welzow in 2020. From that point on, our kitten was under his care. The first injection went very badly. A lot of our kitten's blood spilled onto the PVC table. This was then wiped away with a rag. Since other veterinarians were further away, we unfortunately had to go back to him. About 12 times in total. The cat would gag but couldn't vomit. She received an injection, and Mr. Knauer said it would be better by evening. But it just kept getting worse. So, back and forth for more injections. After two days, she was barely moving. After calling, we went back again. Since she was suffering so much, we tearfully decided to end it. Mr. Knauer did it. He even had a long personal phone call afterward. He claimed he'd made a mistake with the diagnosis and that because I'd already paid so much, I only needed to pay €60.00. I didn't have anything with me, so he gave me a plastic bag, put the cat in it, and handed it to me. I wasn't allowed to leave the cat there because he had another client. I didn't receive a receipt for any of the treatments. When I asked him about it, he told me he wasn't a fan of paperwork but would issue a receipt upon request. I also feel guilty for not having sought out a vet who truly cared for animals. My kitten could still be alive. I'm 74 years old and have had six dogs and three cats in that time, but I've never encountered such a vet. And I wouldn't wish that on anyone. The prices for treatments have also increased drastically in recent years. Unfortunately, we later heard from many people in Welzow what they thought of this practice, both inside and out. You'd think your pet would be treated in a storage room. There's no waiting room. No regular opening hours either. Only by appointment. But that won't bring our kitten back. You shouldn't believe the testimonials of relatives who are also clients. It might be enough for an annual vaccination, but in a serious situation, my advice would be to find another practice. We will avoid this practice in the future.

We feel very well cared for here! Whether it's a big or small issue, he always has a sympathetic ear and helpful advice. What's great is that we can get an appointment quickly (even in the evenings and on weekends), are seen immediately, and always alone, meaning the dog and cat don't meet right away like at other vets. He's very thorough, professional, and friendly! Even when accompanying us to the other side of the room, he finds the right words and shows genuine respect for the animal! Dr. Knauer is a very competent and experienced veterinarian. I've been taking our cats to his practice regularly for vaccinations and any necessary treatments since 2012. Appointments are readily available, and the prices are fair. He's very kind and understanding. His experience makes him highly accurate when it comes to diagnoses. I feel my cats are in good hands there.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Steffen Knauer. In an acute emergency, when my dog ​​was having severe seizures and I couldn't reach a veterinarian, he was there for me immediately. Although it's by no means a given, he answered the phone, listened calmly to everything, and didn't hesitate to offer his help. I was able to see him right away. His expertise, his calm demeanor, and above all, his humanity deeply impressed me. You can tell immediately that he doesn't just practice his profession, but lives it with genuine passion and dedication.
