Last night, our 1.8-year-old male dog had a health problem. His foreskin wouldn't retract over his penis. This was clearly causing him pain. A call around 10:00 PM to Ms. Krieger (the on-call veterinarian) provided immediate help. She gently rinsed the affected area with cool water and applied soothing eye drops to his penis. About 20 minutes after the call, the problem was resolved. No further cooling was necessary. My own anxiety immediately dissipated. Our sincere thanks go to Ms. Krieger for the empathetic phone call, her expert advice, and her guidance on any necessary follow-up treatment.
She has always been the best person to help our cats, dogs, puppies, guinea pigs, and hamsters. She's incredibly kind to animals and highly competent. I've been taking our pets to Ms. Krieger for over 20 years. With her great sensitivity and patience, she has always managed to get our animals back on their feet. When she reaches her limits (lack of ultrasound equipment, etc.), she refers you to another practice. Or, if very small animals need a complicated surgery, she refers you to the animal hospital. In my opinion, she's the best veterinarian in the world, even if the practice is a bit dated.
Unfortunately, I can't give negative stars. I was so utterly berated on the phone that I couldn't think straight. And thankfully, I have to say it was a good thing, because it led me to another, and the best, vet in the world.
A few weeks ago, we visited Ms. Krieger because our dog (over 15 years old) was slowly starting to leave us. We had a frank conversation, and we returned home with only some reassurance and a few tips. Unfortunately, the situation worsened weeks later. Ms. Krieger came to our home, and we began his final journey together. Everything was calm, respectful, full of love, and very sensitive. A huge thank you. I've been to many veterinarians in my life, but hardly any were as compassionate.
The practice was incredibly neglected. There are other ways to put it. The doctor was very unfriendly on the phone, and just as unfriendly in person. The treatment was incomprehensible, disorganized, and ultimately ineffective. I had to see another doctor immediately afterward. I rarely give one star, but this place truly deserves it.
