Reviews
Up until recently, we were quite satisfied. Lately, Dr. Diekhans seems to have forgotten what he told us during the last examination... The fact that we were treated like idiots and then admitted that most of his clients misunderstand him is unacceptable. A professional veterinarian should know how to treat an animal after almost five years, but apparently, making money is the priority. Mrs. Diekhans' manner and tone at reception are absolutely appalling, and we're expected to put up with it because his wife does it for no reason. I would have given zero stars if I could. We will be going to a different veterinarian in the future! If you love your pet, you should absolutely avoid this veterinarian!!!
And even one star is too much. We've always been satisfied, but this year we started to have second thoughts. Our dog frequently had diarrhea and vomiting, and not just this year. She also often had itching. We were always told it was due to a gastrointestinal issue. We're not veterinarians. Then, about two months ago, a vet finally took a blood sample and performed an ultrasound. The results showed her liver was damaged, and the blood work also indicated something was wrong. After the veterinary clinic, we went there, but even after asking, he didn't send the ultrasound images. Yesterday, another ultrasound and blood test were performed at the clinic. The results were: severe liver damage, liver and bile values, etc., were very high. We were given the assessments of the veterinarian and the head veterinarian of the clinic. Our dog is dying, and the only thing they're doing now is to ensure she's pain-free. And at the clinic, they said our dog must have had this for a very, very long time. If Mr. Diekhans had simply done an ultrasound two or three years ago, something might have been done. I don't want to rush things or anything; I just want him to think about it. In any case, we won't be going to him again. We've now clarified that with the clinic; he's no longer our regular vet.
For obvious issues, it's okay, but for anything more complex, I can't recommend this practice. We were there on Friday with our cat, paid €340 for x-rays, a basic blood test, and lots of "possibilities"—what can I say? Less than 24 hours later, we had to have our cat euthanized. Instead of taking the money, they should have just sent us directly to an animal hospital. The vet who came to our house suspected our cat had hyperthyroidism. We were sent home with an IV line. I called today to say it was all sorted and we couldn't come back to have the line removed. When asked why, I explained that our cat had to be put down on Saturday evening. Compassion? Non-existent! They still brought in €340, after all! Completely unempathetic and, unfortunately, not recommended for complex cases!
This is the worst and most unfriendly veterinarian I have ever met. He only ever gives pain injections and pills to make money. His wife at reception doesn't deserve to be in that position, just like Diekhans himself. He should be stripped of his veterinary license because he doesn't deserve it. He doesn't really help the animals; he just rakes in money with his "examinations" and doesn't treat them the way a veterinarian should. He didn't consider a very large lump on my dog to be risky, didn't examine it properly, and just said it was due to arthritis. His conclusion: it's most likely cancer. It was definitely a mistake to go there, and he's completely unsuited for his profession. I've never experienced anything like it; this man is simply awful.
