Tierarzt Dr.med.vet. Thomas Raabe

Today, Sunday, February 8th, 2026, I had to bring my senior cat in at short notice because he had stopped eating. The initial contact by phone and the first consultation with the veterinary assistant were excellent. The impression was confirmed on site: a modern, clean practice with superb equipment, two very lovely veterinary assistants, and a very kind and calm veterinarian. Dr. Raabe examined my cat thoroughly and took blood samples. After a short wait, I was given a detailed explanation of the blood test results, further treatment options were suggested, and, most importantly, my anxiety was put at ease in a very kind and professional manner. While going to the vet was unpleasant for both my cat Horsti and me, Dr. Raabe and his two colleagues made the experience as comfortable as possible.

We were the first ones there on Saturday, even before they opened. Our dog had injured a claw. As we were just passing through and not based in Dresden, I had looked for a veterinarian near our guesthouse. Unfortunately, I couldn't explain the problem, as we were immediately turned away with our dog and referred to the emergency veterinary service. The automated message from this emergency service makes it clear that it should only be used in absolute emergencies. What a shame.

We had to take our cat to the emergency vet over the weekend. After calling several times and receiving a very patient response from Mr. Raabe, we were able to bring him in early Sunday morning after a sleepless night. It turned out he had an intestinal obstruction. The team took excellent care of him, kept us constantly informed, and the surgery apparently went smoothly. Yesterday, two days after the incident, we were able to take him home after his stay at the clinic. Everything was explained to us, and all our questions were answered. I couldn't be more grateful that our cat ended up there and that they were able to save him.

Is it really necessary to put a severely emaciated and dehydrated 17-year-old cat with chronic kidney failure and hyperthyroidism through this – another blood test, an IV drip, four different medications? I had objected, but Dr. Berg's manipulative and unempathetic behavior towards me and my cat paid off: €365 for no improvement, quite the opposite. Another veterinarian simply shook his head and euthanized my cat. My advice to pet owners: Insist on euthanasia; you know your pet best.
