In my opinion, Dr. Schmitz is a highly skilled and experienced veterinarian. During our appointment to diagnose an arrhythmia, he took ample time, explained everything clearly, and handled the horse well. Unfortunately, I have been waiting for months for the written report of the examination – the appointment was at the end of August 2020. I was assured that I would receive the report by email. Dr. Schmitz is no longer reachable. He has repeatedly ignored emails and voicemail messages. Two weeks ago, I ran into him by chance at the stable and again requested the written report. He assured me he would send it – but to this day, NOTHING has happened. I have since heard that several other clients are experiencing the same issue. I now feel compelled to take this route to draw attention to my case. It is very frustrating that all this trouble has made me less able to appreciate Dr. Schmitz's otherwise excellent work!
Dr. Schmitz is a very good veterinarian. He takes his time and always explains everything very thoroughly. I feel very comfortable with him and have complete confidence in his work and his knowledge.

What a competent, calm, and friendly veterinarian and horse whisperer! We've had two excellent experiences with him. Last year, he operated on my daughter's mare on-site after an accident, and despite the difficult conditions—warm, deep, and heavily contaminated wound—and the fact that he operated outdoors, everything healed perfectly. Even then, it was noticeable how positively he affected an injured and anxious horse. Today, he extracted my daughter's young horse's wolf teeth and filed down the tips of its molars. He works calmly and efficiently, explains everything, and makes both horse and rider feel safe. A wonderful experience! We are very grateful.
