Now that our treatment is almost complete, I'd like to share my experience. Another veterinary practice wanted to offer only palliative treatment for my then 9.5-year-old dog due to recurring lameness in her front legs and an X-ray showing severe osteoarthritis. Since I wasn't willing to accept this, we found our way to Vetacare through a good network, and thus to Dr. Winkels and Dr. Pott. The diagnostic workup (CT scan and arthroscopy) was thorough, and while the diagnosis was unpleasant for us, it was precise. The truth can sometimes hurt. They took ample time to discuss the findings for both elbows with me, as well as the risks and benefits of the next steps. I then opted for the recommended CUE surgery (partial joint replacement) of both elbows. The left elbow was operated on four months ago. I can't presume to judge the procedure itself, but I diligently presented the x-rays and my dog ​​to friends who are both human doctors and veterinarians at private events, and they consistently commented, independently of one another, on things like "absolute professionals were at work" and "technically impressive." I think that speaks for itself. My dog's subsequent recovery has been extremely promising. The wound healed without any complications. My regular veterinarian continued to monitor our care. Vetacare was always available for questions via email/callback list. Since I'm rather overprotective, I can attest to Vetacare's remarkable patience when it comes to constant inquiries. I was always taken seriously, and everything was patiently explained to me, even three times if necessary. I strongly advise everyone to strictly adhere to Vetacare's postoperative recommendations and to implement comprehensive hygiene measures at home, and to stick to them rigorously to avoid jeopardizing the outcome. In my now six-month journey through the world of orthopedics and physiotherapy, I've come across some truly bizarre recommendations. My personal highlight was the suggestion to use healing stones instead of the planned second surgery, or to increase the dog's activity level immediately after the first surgery to strengthen the muscles. No matter how technically skilled the surgery may be, neglecting aftercare or listening to such "tips" from others can jeopardize the outcome. Vetacare isn't responsible for this; it's a matter of personal responsibility. It sometimes requires a lot of discipline, restructuring, creativity in implementing the home routine, and perseverance. But it's worth it. My dog ​​has now regained her full quality of life four months after surgery. Of course, she's not as energetic as a two-year-old whirlwind, but she can participate in all age-appropriate activities. And she doesn't need painkillers. Today, her other elbow was operated on, so now it's a matter of gritting our teeth and persevering. Other reviewers here with negative comments have complained about the pricing. All I can say is that all the invoices I've seen are based on the German Veterinary Fee Schedule (GOT) and are therefore fair. I feel the price reflects the quality. Treatments in human medicine are similarly expensive; we only don't notice this ourselves thanks to public health insurance. Animals are essentially private patients. For me, the question of profitability doesn't arise, as our dogs are part of the family. I'm grateful that my dog ​​was able to be helped. I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Pott and Dr. Winkels for the excellent treatment of our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Charlotte. Charlotte was just five months old at the time of her first surgery in August 2026 and had a supraglenoid tuberosity fracture. This was initially operated on at a veterinary clinic in the Netherlands – unfortunately without the desired success. I then sought two further opinions, both of which concluded that Vetacare was the right place for revision surgery, as there are only a few surgeons in Germany who can operate on this specific fracture. Following the first surgery, the revision was performed at their practice in November 2026 – and this decision was absolutely the right one. The care was professional, empathetic, and competent from the very beginning. We were particularly impressed by the clear communication and the trust that was instilled in us throughout the entire treatment process. Follow-up care was provided by our regular veterinarian. After three months of complete rest and a great deal of patience during the follow-up care, we gradually increased her activity level. Today – eight months after the initial surgery – we can say: Charlotte is completely healed! The operation was a success; the implanted screw hasn't shifted despite the strain. She's fully recovered, romping with other dogs, and has completely regained her zest for life. Now we'll be careful for a few more months to avoid any high jumps – then we hope to have made it through completely. A huge thank you for this amazing work and the new quality of life you've given our Charlotte. We are incredibly grateful and wholeheartedly recommend this practice!

Even though it's a bit late, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank the team at the VetaCare veterinary clinic for the excellent care they provided. Our dog, Yukon (an Australian Shepherd), was diagnosed with hereditary hip dysplasia. At a young age (10 months old at the time), both of his hips were cracking terribly. After our regular vet, who seemed visibly concerned, reviewed the initial x-rays, we took his recommendation to the VetaCare clinic. Scheduling an appointment online was easy, and we were able to bring Yukon in promptly. From the first day to the last (and there were quite a few appointments), we, and especially Yukon, received a very warm welcome. The entire team was always very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We were accompanied by Dr. Pott during all the appointments and examinations. Gait analysis, thorough physical examinations, blood tests, X-rays, confirmation of the initial diagnosis, and repeated consultations and discussions of the examination results—Ms. Pott was always friendly and competent and able to answer all questions, including those regarding alternative treatments and the expected costs. Since Yukon wasn't fully grown at the time of the preliminary examinations, we had to wait until he turned 13 months old before we could release him, with a sense of trepidation, into the caring hands of the team for three days for his first surgery. Up to that point, on Ms. Pott's advice, we had reduced Yukon's weight from 21 kg to 18 kg. After both hip surgeries, in which an artificial hip joint was implanted each time, a long test of patience began for Yukon (and for us). Twice a day, according to the therapy plan, Yukon had to spend six weeks resting 24/7 on a short leash in his bed to limit his urge to move and promote healing. He was only allowed a maximum of three ten-minute walks a day, with assistance lifting his hind legs. But his owner and Yukon handled it all brilliantly. After the final X-ray and check-up, Yukon was discharged. The veterinarians, Dr. Winkels and Ms. Pott, were very pleased with the results of the two surgeries and his subsequent recovery. We are also delighted to see how much Yukon enjoys running and jumping around the garden. Long walks are no problem. And we have the peace of mind knowing that neither of his hips cracks anymore, that his hip joint won't dislocate, and that Yukon can move without pain. We took our Cane Corso, Freya, to the clinic. She had a torn cruciate ligament. We received very friendly and expert advice from Dr. Pott. Dr. Winkels performed the surgery, and it went very well. Freya handled the operation well. Afterward, Dr. Pott explained everything to us over coffee, outlining exactly what had been done and what the next steps would be. We felt very well cared for and highly recommend the clinic. Everyone on the team is very friendly and highly competent. Everything is very clean, professional, and well-organized. There's a ramp to the entrance, and they take video recordings of her gait. Appointments for the preliminary examination and the surgery are available quickly and easily. Unfortunately, our next appointment for Freya's other leg is in six weeks, but we're looking forward to it with complete confidence and trust in the clinic team. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Of course, this isn't cheap, but good work has to be paid for, and the prices are set by government regulations. In April, my dog ​​got a stick stuck in her paw. She subsequently underwent two surgeries and had X-rays. Despite this, the lameness and swelling in her hind leg kept recurring – there was no real improvement in sight. Finally, we were referred to Vetacare. We got an appointment within just two days, which was incredibly helpful in this situation. There, they took more X-rays, an ultrasound, and a CT scan – and discovered that after five months, a stick about 3 cm long was still lodged in her leg. This was successfully removed. After the surgery, another CT scan was performed for monitoring, and a drain was inserted. That was four months ago – and since then, my dog ​​has been completely sound. Her leg has healed beautifully, we have no more problems, and we can resume our dog-powered sports without any discomfort. We felt very comfortable at the clinic from the very beginning. The entire team is incredibly kind, treated Nala with great sensitivity, and was always there for us. The communication was excellent – ​​we received quick and clear answers to every question.
