Reviews
Friendly staff, but the doc only had a short look at the acute eye infection of our rabbit and neither checked on the previous skin ailment (to which the poor bunny eventually succumbed), nor provided tips on how we should overall take care of the elderly animal.
I took my two rabbits to see him and his team today. After some initial difficulties due to sharing a last name with another patient, everything went perfectly. He is very considerate of the rabbits and their stress levels. He does everything necessary, remaining calm and efficient without being sloppy. I am thrilled and so glad to have this vet.
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. I never felt I received good advice regarding my rabbits' medical needs (the symptoms were often downplayed), but the last visit was simply unacceptable on a personal level. Despite having an appointment, I was left standing in the examination room with my trembling rabbit for 20 minutes without a word. The vet simply told me as I walked by, "I'll be right there." He was with another animal, and as I later learned, it was an emergency. It's perfectly understandable that emergencies take priority and can take longer – however, as a pet owner, I expect a brief explanation instead of subjecting the animal to unnecessary stress. When I asked an assistant about the wait time, somewhat annoyed, the vet responded in an unprofessional and unprofessional manner. He resorted to personal insults ("You probably think we're a**holes") and repeatedly told me that my rabbit's broken claw wasn't an emergency – as if I were slow on the uptake and had no compassion for other animals. This condescending tone and the comparison ("You don't say anything at the human doctor, do you?") demonstrate a shocking ignorance of the stress a prey animal experiences in this situation. The veterinarian suggested I find another practice, which I intend to do anyway after this disrespectful treatment. The only positive aspect was that the practice staff was friendly (as always!) and waived the fee.
We brought our little cat to Mr. Uzunalic and his team on a recommendation. Our first impression was entirely positive. Our little one radiated a calmness around him that she rarely displays with strangers. The team and the owner seem very friendly and competent. During another "minor emergency" over the weekend, I experienced Mr. Uzunalic's fairness and helpfulness firsthand. We feel we are in the best hands.
After a few more negative experiences with substitute vets, I was grateful today for the impeccable organization of the practice and the negligible waiting times. My timid senior dog calmed down quickly, as the team was ready to perform the treatment without forcing him onto the table. Dr. Uzunalic only had to say, "Hello, my big guy!" and he stopped trembling... :) I received an immediate explanation of the lab results, and the planned surgery was explained competently, including my options. Since I have already experienced Dr. Uzunalic as an exceptionally skilled surgeon, my initial hysteria immediately transformed into deep trust. In my opinion, it is completely out of the question that this vet would subject an animal to unnecessary treatments; rather, his love for animals and his commitment to their well-being are absolutely genuine. I find the insinuation that he charges exorbitant prices for treatments even more absurd!?! ...``` My conclusion: It's truly a blessing to have such a competent veterinary practice in town and not be referred to one of the, in my opinion, rather mediocre clinics! He even handles challenging operations like bilateral perineal hernias and adenomas on the sphincter muscle with flying colors. My advice: Before subjecting your pet to a clinic, ask directly at the practice if the doctor can't handle it – he's far more experienced, empathetic, and 100% responsible.
