The veterinarian, Dr. V., to whom this review refers, is no longer employed at this veterinary clinic. This review applies solely to him and not to the clinic in general. I am still traumatized by the suffering our dog endured. This veterinarian performed a barium swallow test on our dog, who had come to the emergency room with respiratory distress and a choking episode. We were not allowed to be present! The barium was apparently forced down the dog's throat, causing him to collapse and lose blood from his mouth. This blood dripped onto the floor along with the barium. Finally, the dog began to pump his body wildly and loudly (abdominal straining) and gasp for air. It was so distressing that I filmed it with my cell phone. Because of the collapse, the veterinarian recommended euthanasia, which seemed unavoidable in this case. He then performed the euthanasia with a quick anesthetic followed by potassium. Immediately after his death, a large amount of fresh blood flowed from his mouth, for which he supposedly had no explanation! Unbelievable! This was clearly a result of the treatment. Barium is often administered by force, as I later learned, and in our dog's case, it was probably his death sentence. Had he informed us about the dangers, we would never have agreed to it. Instead, he even said that the barium was good for the stomach. The dog was obviously injured during the administration of the barium.
We are absolutely thrilled with this practice! Ms. Spiekermann and Ms. Anders do fantastic work, and we felt completely at ease with our dog during every visit. The care is simply superb – both are incredibly empathetic, take their time, and treat the animals with loving care. The consultations are also excellent: everything is explained clearly, and you feel truly taken seriously. Thanks to their quick and competent action, they literally saved our dog's life – we are incredibly grateful to them for that. The veterinary assistants are also extremely friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the very first moment. The prices are absolutely fair and reasonable compared to other veterinary clinics. Thank you so much for the wonderful support and help – we wholeheartedly recommend this practice!
I can only give this place 5 stars. My horse was at this clinic twice and received excellent treatment both times (as well as several outpatient treatments at home beforehand). Even though my beloved horse (an elderly retiree) didn't make it in the end, I was very satisfied with the advice, honesty, treatment, and ultimately, the cost. But the way they treated us two-legged companions was also incredibly pleasant. Always polite, friendly, and even humorous! Now my little furry friends are patients there. Again, I can only reiterate my praise for their treatment of people, animals... and wallets. 😉
I just picked up my Noriker horse. He was gelded there, having been converted from a stallion to a gelding. He stayed there for two nights and was very well cared for. Even though we arrived early, the stall was already ready, and I was immediately helped with unloading. I received a call right after the surgery to let me know everything had gone well. I also received another call on the day I picked him up to let me know he was doing well. When I picked him up, I was again helped with loading him, and they were very calm and efficient. All the staff were incredibly kind and friendly and handled the animals with great composure and professionalism. The price was also absolutely reasonable. If we ever need a clinic again, I would definitely go there again. Thank you so much for the excellent service!
