Tip top
We brought our 3.5-year-old dog to Ms. Schirmer because she has hip dysplasia and early-stage arthritis. Ms. Schirmer takes a lot of time for each patient and explained everything to us in detail. Thanks to the treatment (regular underwater treadmill sessions), our dog is doing much better, and we received many exercises to do at home. I can absolutely recommend this practice, and our dog looks forward to every appointment.
Where do I even begin… I have a dachshund, who, as you know, are unfortunately prone to slipped discs :-( … so is my little Alva, now 5 years old and under Sonja's care for some time. Sonja saved us (to put it dramatically)… everyone suffers when their pet suffers… me included! I met Sonja through a recommendation and I am so incredibly grateful. Her calm, professional, and compassionate manner, her expertise, and her willingness to draw on her extensive range of professional resources, making Alva and me feel so well cared for, was and is a gift. I might exaggerate to say she has magic hands, but Alva can actually walk without any problems again today. As soon as her disc starts acting up again, a phone call, a WhatsApp message, or a quick look at her online calendar (very convenient) is all it takes, and we pick up right where we left off. Alva loves coming to the practice, which speaks volumes about the well-being of both dog and owner. And anyone who has ever been to a physiotherapist knows that… It's not always pleasant. Sonja explains the animal's condition clearly and understandingly, always has an open ear for ideas and concerns, and her own two dogs, Coco and Nina, are sometimes at the practice and totally relaxed. So, to make a long story short... I would entrust my animal to Sonja again and again... the fact that Sonja is also a qualified veterinarian (but no longer practices as one) gives additional confidence in her understanding of "holistic" veterinary medicine (at least in our context). I wouldn't wish the need to go to her on anyone, but if... then always to Sonja!!! Top-notch! Thank you for everything... :-)
We've been going to Sonja for three years now, ever since we moved to Hamburg. We've gotten to know her well during this time, and I can say with complete conviction: she's one of the warmest and most caring veterinarians I've ever met. Sonja genuinely loves animals and truly wants to help. She's incredibly empathetic and has great compassion – both for the animals' pain and for the worries of their owners. Unfortunately, over the past three years, we've had several periods where my dog's condition deteriorated significantly and she suffered severe pain. Each time, Sonja helped us with her methods. Yes, this sometimes requires a certain budget, patience, and time – but it has always been worth it. We were able to stabilize my dog's condition and give her at least another good year before the next relapse. Currently, we're going regularly for underwater treadmill therapy, and I sincerely hope that we'll see improvements again this time and give my older, not-so-healthy dog the best possible quality of life. I wholeheartedly recommend Sonja. This therapy really helps – and it can noticeably improve the lives of dogs.
Dear Sonja, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful emergency care you provided for Nali. Nali, my 11-year-old Australian Shepherd, suffered a slipped disc in October and was temporarily unable to walk or stand. Once she was unsteady on her feet again, Sonja treated Nali with great sensitivity and care, and gave us exercises to help improve sensation in her legs and back. Today, Nali can happily walk, jump, run, and play again. Thank you so much! A truly heartfelt recommendation! Best regards
