Reviews
Focused and dedicated.
The staff was friendly, but based on my personal experience, I found Mr. Kempf's behavior inappropriate. I felt pressured into having surgery on my elderly female Greek tortoise, approximately 70-90 years old, who had fluid retention in her legs and visible swelling on her head. He explicitly warned me that euthanasia, as I requested, could lead to charges for violating animal welfare laws. I wanted to spare my beloved tortoise a major abdominal surgery at her age, especially since such operations rarely result in survival for these animals. Due to my emotional distress, I agreed to the surgery. Unfortunately, as I expected, the tortoise only survived a few hours. The surgery was initially quoted at €1,800, but the bill was reduced to €1,400. According to a debt collection agency, the accounting will be transferred to them, and I will also be charged their fees as additional costs. Accounting fees should be included in these prices! What business is it of mine if he hands his accounting over to a debt collection agency! After my experience, I will never set foot in that business again. To me, it's pure extortion.
Dr. Kemp was very professional and took excellent care of my three rats. He examined them and administered a hormone implant to the male rat (black and white) who was hormonally aggressive. Unfortunately, it will take a few more weeks for the results to become visible, which Dr. Kemp had told me beforehand, so I can't yet report whether it worked. He also informed me very well about the costs in advance, so I wasn't shocked. It was expensive, but I had expected more, and of course, every penny is worth it for my rats. The examination of all three rats plus the hormone implant for one rat cost a total of €400. Update: It worked, and the three rats are finally all together again, without any bite wounds!
An initial check-up for my budgie, including chlamydia screening, costs €244. I wasn't informed about the cost beforehand. The vets are quite nice and knowledgeable, but for that price, I would have expected a massage in the waiting room and a bottle of champagne.
Great practice, everyone is very friendly and does everything they can to ensure the animal's well-being. Excellent advice and explanations. Thank you so much for the excellent care. Of course, treatment does cost something, but you're always informed about the approximate amount beforehand, and naturally, you're happy to pay more if it can save a life. Our bearded dragon received a lot of help. First, his liver values were poor, but they're now perfect. Then, he had age-related spinal problems that can't be cured, but with pain medication, Mr. Ed can still have a good life. 🦎😊
