Reviews
I've been taking my animals to Heike Kabitschke-Schmidt's veterinary practice for quite some time now and am completely satisfied. Ms. Kabitschke-Schmidt works with the utmost professionalism, calm demeanor, and a deep understanding of her field. Diagnoses and treatments are explained clearly, decisions are justified comprehensibly, and always made in the best interests of the animal. It's evident that experience, competence, and a genuine sense of responsibility come together here. I particularly appreciate the objective approach, the structured procedure, and the clear communication – without any rush or unnecessary measures. The entire team is also friendly, attentive, and competent, both in their interactions with the animals and their owners. My cats Yumi, Ichiro, and Jojo feel very comfortable there. All of them were spayed or neutered at this practice, and all the procedures went absolutely smoothly. The aftercare was also reliable and professional. I am very grateful for that. Additionally, I would like to emphasize that Ms. Kabitschke-Schmidt is also committed to helping animals in need and donates generously – a point that further underscores her dedication and commitment. For me, this practice is the top choice in the area and a clear recommendation for anyone looking for a competent, honest, and animal-welfare-oriented veterinary practice. Best
I will describe this as objectively as possible and let everyone form their own opinion, because unfortunately, not everything went as smoothly as we had hoped. Since 5-star reviews usually appear at the top and are the most popular, I am giving this review 5 stars. We took our dog here for treatment because we took her temperature and she had lost a few drops of bloody fluid. She was presumably in heat, but the additional fever wasn't normal. She was examined, and according to the vet, her uterus was fine. An ultrasound was not performed. We received antibiotics and painkillers and an appointment for the following Monday. On Sunday morning, our dog had a fever of 41°C (106°F), was vomiting constantly, and we had to take her to the emergency vet. There, she was examined, including with an ultrasound. It turned out that she had a severely inflamed uterus that had already ruptured, and pus had leaked into her abdominal cavity. ... Emergency surgery was required, which would have been less risky if the diagnosis had been made on Friday and the operation performed immediately. The abdominal cavity had to be completely flushed, and blood poisoning cannot yet be definitively ruled out.
Dr. Kabitschke-Schmidt is a wonderful veterinarian. She is very confident and experienced in making diagnoses and has always managed to heal my dogs. She fights for all her animal patients. And even during the very difficult final stage of their lives, you are in good hands here.
I was present as a companion during the euthanasia of a cat and am deeply shaken by how it was handled. I have witnessed several euthanasias before and am familiar with other, far more dignified procedures. In this case, no IV was inserted. The cat received injections without a catheter, and I had the impression until the very end that he couldn't fall asleep peacefully. He vomited several times and didn't seem sufficiently sedated, which I found very distressing. What was particularly difficult was the overall clinical and impersonal atmosphere. Little was explained, the cat was restrained, and I had the feeling that they were simply waiting for the process to be over. Especially in such sensitive moments, I expect a calm, respectful, and empathetic approach, both towards the animal and the people. Unfortunately, that's not what I experienced here.
Excellent appointment management, a competent and empathetic doctor, fair billing and a friendly team - what more could you want?
