Avoidable Loss – Disappointed and Sad My previously healthy cat suddenly vomited fluid that smelled strongly of feces. Despite blood work, tests, and injections, there was no diagnosis. I repeatedly expressed suspicion of an intestinal problem – but was reassured that it couldn't be the intestines. We were told to do further tests, including urine and heart. Instead of admitting that they didn't know what to do and referring him to a clinic for an ultrasound, everything was interpreted as an allergic reaction. In between, we were given injections that had a slight effect, which led us to believe things were getting better. While my cat was visibly losing weight, it wasn't taken seriously. I was told not to worry, it wasn't all that bad. We just had to keep testing. At my request, they didn't even take a proper look at his mouth. I increasingly felt like I was being more of a nuisance than getting help. The last time I called the practice because my cat had vomited three times and also had diarrhea, I wasn't allowed to come in but was told to buy food for allergy sufferers. Of course, it was Friday, and the weekend was already beckoning. So we took him to the hospital. Then the veterinary clinic revealed the bitter truth: severe enteritis. And not only that, everything in his abdomen was highly inflamed. The little food he had was sloshing around in his stomach. The blood was so thick that the vet had trouble draining it. The entire gum in his mouth was gray. The doctor pulled up the skin on his back, and it just stayed there. A timely ultrasound could have saved his life, they told me. He was treated and operated on in the hospital. They tried everything. Unfortunately, his blood count plummeted two days later, and there was nothing they could do for him except euthanize him. In the follow-up interview, they denied any responsibility. They said he was being treated for intestinal problems. If that had been the case, I wonder why I would have had heart tests done. I am deeply disappointed. My cat could have still lived.

I'm very happy with the care I've received from the very kind and competent veterinarian and the entire team! I've been coming here for two years now with my two cats, and today they squeezed me in even though there were no more appointments available. Thank you so much! 🙏

I went for a consultation on August 27, 2025, about my 15-year-old dog. Since I had already been to two other veterinary practices for examinations, I now have a diagnosis. It's her heart. I was given medication, and I haven't slept through the night for eight weeks. My little girl actually slept through the night thanks to the medication. I know she's old, but I've never received such good advice. The doctor and her amazing team are simply fantastic. I will, of course, always recommend her. Great, I'm glad I chose this path.

Dr. Reuber and her friendly team provide loving and highly competent care for our dogs. Thanks to their excellent and professional care, Sparky lived to be over 17 years old. Millie has found a very competent and caring veterinarian in Dr. Reuber. Many thanks to the entire team! 👍😀

Animals can't speak, and veterinary practices also have to pay their rent and staff bills at the end of the month. Leaving a dying animal, announced by phone, in the waiting room, then waiting for treatment, is an absolute no-brainer. Author: Rüdiger Keinecke
