Reviews
Great practice, our animals always receive very loving care, we love going there! Everyone is always very nice and helpful!
We're currently on vacation, and our dog has likely developed gastritis from the seawater, mud, and tidal flats. Since we were completely unfamiliar with the area, we searched for a veterinary clinic nearby and luckily found this one. We received an incredibly warm welcome on the phone. Even though the clinic was almost closing time and the waiting room was still full, they took the time to listen to our case and decided we absolutely had to come in so our dog's condition wouldn't worsen overnight. At the clinic, we received the same warm welcome and were allowed straight into the examination room despite the other patients waiting. The vet was exceptionally friendly, empathetic, and gentle with our dog. He took plenty of time for the examination, explained everything clearly, and gave us the appropriate medication. We especially appreciated that the vet even took the time afterward to give us some tips for excursions in the region and provided us with valuable advice for a vacation with our dog at the seaside. We never felt rushed – quite the opposite: we felt that our dog's well-being was truly their top priority. The best part was that our dog was noticeably better shortly after the treatment, allowing us to continue enjoying our vacation without any worries. Thank you so much for the quick, competent, and warm assistance! We wish we had a veterinary practice back home that was just as friendly and dedicated. We give them a clear 5 stars and highly recommend them!
We had to bring our dog to the vet's office as an emergency in the evening. Without any fuss, we were seen immediately. Luckily, our worst fears were unfounded, and he was already feeling much better by the time we arrived. Nevertheless, he received a thorough check-up. Not a single harsh word about overprotective owners, and no unnecessary diagnostic procedures, which could easily have been pushed on us. The vet was genuinely kind and competent, with a lovely partner/husband who kept the anxious owner in good spirits. The billing was completely fair and transparent. We're so glad the practice offered emergency services and, even though it was our first time there, we felt immediately well cared for. THANK YOU.
I'm writing this review because my visit to this practice was unsatisfactory and irritating in several respects. During my dog's treatment, an injection (Librella) was administered. The explanation I received was so brief that I felt rather unprepared afterward. It seemed to me that crucial information about potential side effects was simply omitted. The only mention was increased thirst and therefore more frequent urination. When I later read an article that discussed this medication extensively, I became very concerned. Therefore, I have the impression that the necessary care was lacking in communication. Furthermore, I was handed a pill dispenser with the words, "Here, take this." Since there was no mention of any cost, I naturally assumed it was a free product from a pharmaceutical company, a promotional gift for customers. When I then discovered what I consider a completely disproportionate price on the bill, I was more than astonished. In retrospect, the way the appointment was handled seemed anything but transparent. So I called the practice and asked to speak with Mr. Onnen, the veterinarian in charge. He called back the next day. I found the subsequent phone call particularly disappointing. Instead of addressing my concerns, I got the impression that the veterinarian immediately became defensive. The conversation didn't sound solution-oriented or professional at all. I was ridiculed with comments like, "I don't give anything away for free." This wasn't clearly communicated, however! I also found the remark that I got my information "from Facebook"—or that I should have my neighbor treat my dog next time (because I read the article there)—particularly disconcerting. I perceived this as disrespectful and demeaning. In short, I felt that transparency, criticism, respectful communication, and responsible handling of feedback were not priorities here. Based on my personal experience, I would definitely not recommend this practice.
Emergency service? But outside of their (their on-call days!!!!) office hours (9-10/16-17), you're supposed to contact the Oldenburg clinic? Are there no emergencies outside of their office hours? We called another clinic that said they were responsible for Jever and would call us back. That never happened. Great emergency service! Please don't participate in the on-call schedule if you don't want to and are unreachable!
