Reviews
A very competent and friendly veterinarian, and the same goes for his team. We've changed veterinary practices several times because our dogs are a bit special. Dr. Ostsieker Niedrighaus is the first veterinarian who doesn't require sedation before an examination. Excellent value for money. All in all, we're thrilled. Unfortunately, there are no appointments available; genuine emergencies take priority. We wish our dogs could be seen as well. Therefore, a very good choice, but please allow for a wait.
The best vet I've ever been to! (And I've been to a lot!) We went to this vet out of necessity because my dog, while out for a walk, I suspect he'd stepped on some glass. He was only walking on three legs, and I was very upset and worried. When we arrived, I looked around, a little confused, because it was in a very rural area, with lots of cobwebs on the house, and the practice was in a farmhouse. As soon as we went inside, my worry vanished instantly. A lovely lady was sitting at the reception desk and greeted us warmly. We filled out all the necessary information, and then we started waiting. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a while, but it turned out to be a really nice experience in the end. For one thing, there was an adorable cat wandering around the whole time, greeting everyone in a rather hostile manner. For another, the people in the waiting area were incredibly kind and friendly! We had so many wonderful conversations that day. — ... With some, we talked about our own pets, and with others, about the vet himself. Here too, my worries were immediately put at ease. The people sitting there all told me countless stories about when and how this vet had helped their animals. (Even at night, and when other vets supposedly couldn't find anything or were closed.) The furniture in the practice was all quite old, but it looked so nice! There wasn't that typical vet smell either, which seemed to calm my dog a lot. My dog trembles from many bad experiences with vets, usually from the moment you enter the practice, but here it was different. And I also felt completely comfortable, more like I was visiting a friend. When it was finally our turn, I was initially a little anxious and uncertain. The vet is a bit older and looked quite stern at first. He took my worries and my dog very seriously, but his calm manner immediately put me at ease. Even my dog lay quietly on the examination table. He really took 15 minutes just to examine my dog's leg and paw. Afterwards, we let him walk around briefly so he could see the limp. Then he examined the leg for another 5 minutes. I have never felt so well cared for and taken seriously by a veterinarian. He gave our dog an injection for the pain and some medication, took the time to explain the dosage to us, and even cracked a few jokes with us at the end! Now for the payment. Relieved and in good spirits, we went to the counter to pay, and our jaws dropped! For the entire treatment, plus medication, we only paid €46! We had previously spoken to another veterinarian who told us that nothing could be done for less than €250. We were so incredibly grateful and happy. As soon as we got home, my dog was walking as if nothing had ever happened. I'm proud to say that this man works out of love for animals, not for the money! I've already recommended this vet to five other people, and I'll never go to another one. I hope this vet will be around for a very, very long time! I know this review is a bit long, but for such a service, I'm happy to take the time to appreciate it and show my gratitude. Sincerely, Isabel Dohmen And Charlie
The doctor was very unfriendly, even during the vaccination. He addressed me informally and made fun of me for being transgender; I overheard him talking about it with his assistant. He was also very unfriendly during our phone call beforehand. I'm truly shocked by my experience at this practice. He shouted at me very loudly during the phone call, even though I only had a question about getting a dog. If this review is deleted, I will submit proof that I visited the practice in person and called ahead so that my review can be reinstated.
Disaster!!! Yesterday we went there to have our two cats microchipped and vaccinated. Two days prior, we had asked about an appointment and were told to just walk in, no appointment was necessary. So we did. Yesterday we sat there for a little over two hours and then left because we had to pick up our daughter. Oh well, new game, new luck… Today we went back again and left after 1.5 hours! Both days we sat in the waiting room and NOTHING happened! None of the other people waiting with us were seen in that time. This is unacceptable, and I absolutely CANNOT RECOMMEND this vet. It's a shame, really, because it's only about a two-minute walk from our house.
I can't understand the bad reviews. We've been taking our French Bulldog to him for two years. We were just there yesterday and our dog received quick help. The vet takes his time and is always very friendly. I would personally recommend him. He's a vet who cares about the animal, not the money.
